That was the whole point of this season. As much as Jax wanted out, he found out what happens when you have the power and now he can't give it up. Hence Bobby's comment about how he changed and also his conversations with Nero and Clay this season. Clay wanted to get enough and get out, but once he lost the head of the table he did everything he could to get it back, and even asked Jax what happened to Jax's plan to get out. The season starts with Nero telling him he has an exit plan and he's just trying to save enough money, then Jax figured out that Nero already had enough money to exit but didn't. Then there was the end when Nero said he'll get out if Jax does too, and Jax says good bye and walks out. As much as he wants to be his father and change the direction of the club or get out, he finds out he is also a lot like Clay, and what happens when you take over the head of the table.

I especially liked the closing shot of the 3 generations, and Abel playing with then putting on his father's ring.

So what exactly did Juice do for Jax that had him so conflicted? I know he got the legal docs but was there something else I've forgotten?

Gave Jax Clay's gun so Clay could be framed for Pope's murder.

OK, I figured that had to be it, but couldn't remember.

So is there a possibility that Jax was in on Tara's arrest? The way he took Gemma's hand in that last scene made me wonder.

Not a chance.   He is taking Gemma's hand because he knows she is the only person left to take care of his kids ... since he's a dead-beat dad.

I think we are stuck with Clay and Gemma until final episode is series
I root for them both to get killed every week, can not stomach either of them

A review and commentary of the episode, season and series in general. Contains spoilers if you haven't seen last night's season finale.

If Gemma blew Tara in by saying she knew about the murder ahead of time and provided the murder weapon wouldn't she be a co conspirator?

I thought Jimmy Smits might be getting out when he was taking his rings off in his last scene.

I wonder if Gemma, after she turned Tara in, also reneged on her testimony about Clay - allowing him to return.

Possibility - the way Gemma looked at Tara in the police car made me think she was the one who turned Tara in.

The final montage overdubbed with Janes Addiction version of Sympathy for the Devil was just plain brilliant .. it summed up in a few minutes the whole enchilada ..

Otto's tongue scene haunted me for a day .. absolutely unreal .. shocking .. there are no words ..

And Tara paying the price for something she had absolutely no idea would happen shows how the innocent get sucked in to the dark, dark world of SAMCRO ..

And Tig .. ?? Loves pets but will murder you at the drop of a hat ..

An incredible finale ..

There was a homeless girl picking in the dumpster as the sons went into the dogfight and she and Jax exchanged a look. She was also in the finale in the cemetery a couple seasons ago. I'm guessing she's his guardian angel or something to that effect but I can't remember if she's in the finale each season or if she's been in any non finale episodes.

Who was it that Tara was accused of killing? For the life of me, I couldn't figure it out.

As others have already observed, Jax has turned into another Clay. The guy has a genius for survival but no moral compass. In other words, he's a rat. Tara on the other hand is redeemable. I hope she gets out of her legal problems and gets herself and her sons as far from Charming and the MC as possible. In a way, it was fun to see Clay on the road to getting his just deserts as the result of Jax's devious and murderous plan but after seeing the nature of Jax's plan, I wish that they would both will end up dead or imprisoned forever.

She is not the murderer, she is an accessory to murder. She gave Otto the crucifix......

Just finished up the finale... Wow.

Gemma turned in Tara once she overheard jax and Nero talking.

Hope next season we see Tara get out and jax turn straight. There can only be so many seasons of killing everyone and getting out of jail, etc

Yes .. and although she had no idea what he would use it for, obviously, she did smuggle in into prison .. Gemma did give it to her .. regardless of Jax going so dark this season, Otto is just plain nuts and has stolen the show in a few spots, IMO .. Kurt Sutter is not only a great writer, but a pretty darn good actor ..

Yes, of course! I should have figured that out for myself but failed. No wonder I didn't recognize the name of the obscure nurse who Otto murdered. Thanks, guys.

If Gemma told the police what she said she would, she'd be just as culpable.

Unser is the "good guy" of the show. And I will always be rooting for Chucky. smile.gif

I was sorta let down by the finale, but not surprised a bit. A little too much hand waving, even for this show. But, I'll be there to the very end!

If she can't have 'em (the kids), then nobody can...

Opies murder was really the big turning point for the show as well as Jax .. although Jax was on a downward spiral, the murder of his best friend / the guy that wanted the club to take a different direction

Sometimes, Jax reminds me of Walter White ..

My favorite Dayton Callie roles are as SOA's Wayne Unser and as Charley Utter in Deadwood.

Jimmy Smits is set to return to FX‘s flagship drama Sons Of Anarchy, reprising his role as Neron “Nero” Padilla, a former gangbanger whose exit strategy is trumped by his partnership with Jax (Charlie Hunnam). Smits appeared in 12 of the 13 episodes from Anarchy‘s fifth season. He has now signed on to do all episodes from Season 6, which is shaping to be even more intense and volatile.

That's good news.

Than what???

I didn't think it could get any more intense and volatile...

hands down, the most violent season to date

I can't imagine anything more violent than a couple of last season's killings. Burning Tig's daughter to death in that pit or Opie being beaten to death in jail.

Sons of Anarchy is in production this week in Sun Valley... Good News.. Have they announced the premiere date???
I see that Kim Dickens is joining the cast for a recurring role. I'm looking forward to that.

It's always early September.

Sutter does a weekly Q&A. I found one of his answers very interesting. He has always said SOA would end with season 7.
