'Sons of Anarchy' on FX HD - Page 5

Another great episode last night, even though you saw that end result a mile away. Next weeks season finale is 90 minutes.

Not trying to stymie you, but I'm going to have to ask you to trust me on this one.

What happened in last night's ep is most definitely something you want to SEE, not be told about, particularly because of the other chracter's reactions to it, and you're going to want it under your belt for the finale we seem to be heading towards next week.

Wow, I'm going to miss this show after next week. Another great ep. Can't wait to see what happens with Jax and Opie next week.

Was it just me or did this season seem WAY TOO SHORT????

Thats the downside of excellent tv. It goes by so fast and leaves you wanting more.
You know, I watch a lot of TV, and this has been the only show that just amazes me week in and week out. I just watched this weeks episode last night and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Sure, we saw the setup of what was to come, but not the way it turned out. Most shows would have let that "Opie setup" run its course. This show made it a rollercoaster ride. The moment the keys exchanged hands I had that sick feeling in my stomach. And I cared about the characters, which says a lot about the writing and acting of this show.

Just wanted to give my praise to this wonderfully written and executed show. Bravo F/X, you have another fantastic show...and now in HD for me to boot! It's hard to believe that this show only has 5 pages worth of comments.

One last comment on the show this week, anyone catch Clay's reaction to what happened at the end? "Did you see who did it? Was he black?" That was the first time I have seen Clay "sweat". He was torn up and panicked at the same time!

Well, when you act as judge, jury, and executioner, you're going to sweat when you realize that you got the wrong guy.

Damn, wish I was getting an HD feed of it! Yeah, I'm surprised more people aren't watching it/posting on it as well. maybe its just part of the breed which follow this kind of programming. IIRC, it was pretty similar with this show's popular progenitor, The Shield. Never seemed to get anywhere near the type of attention it deserved.

Yeah, well he had good cause to be freaked out and scared because under the circumstances, he couldn't be sure who was actually responsible. Once the whole 'Blacks'/Mayan arms deal fiasco came down and became added to the mix, it was no longer clear where responsibility for the hit lie among the 3 MCs from Jax' POV, particularly with the unnecessarily severe ultimate payback, inadvertent or not. The event could just as easily been an internal problem or an external one.

BTW, I should confess at this point, that as someone who seriously did not like Jax at all initially, he has grown on me.

Uh, Clay was saying that because he wanted Tig to do the hit on Opie as if he was a black gang-banger, so it was just for show. He knew what happened already.

My bad. I was in the middle of something else and speed read that prior post, and as a result thought it referring to Jax' POV.

Go back and read my response in that light and it will, at least, make a lot more sense.

Okay, guys, just a bittersweet reminder that tonight is going to be our last hit of SOA for awhile, so smoke 'em if you got 'em.

OTOH, it should be one helluva an episode.

And on a different note, I know from the posts that there are a number of former 'The Shield' fans in this group. Someone started a thread about the end of that great series here in this forum, but it got locked out.

But if anyone wants to offer their last salutes, or gripes concerning (though I can't imagine what someone would gripe about that great show), The Barn & its characters, the round table is now open here:

That was my post that got locked. I offered it up mainly because many people here watch that show, yet there is no active thread that I found talking about it. Thought the SOA group would chime in and people would just let it ride. Whatever.

No, I understood that. But once I realized you gotten locked out, it was pretty clear to me that the mods were not going to permit any substantive discussion here of The Shield, so I moved it into a different venue with a road map so that those who were interested (hopefully others besides just you and me) would have someplace to chew the fat about the past 6 years.

FWIW, I would have just as soon kept it here myself.

i love it
can't wait for season two
Looking forward to season 2.

I thought SOA showed the outlaw biker life pretty close on most of the main points about outlaw clubs ( I guess they were supposed to outlaw bikers - no diamond- 1% patch and no outlaw biker wears bright white sneakers like Jax does ) .
This is an awsome show and I cant wait till SOA season 2.
I just watched the last episode with my wife again. Very good setup for season 2. It's not often my wife will venture from "her" shows so for this to catch her eye means a lot.
Good news, according to this http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...1#post15335811 the 2nd season begins in the spring.

So much for that spring start. Promos during Rescue Me last night said it's coming back in the fall.

I bagged this one because, as a general rule, it's No-HD = No-Sale around my house. Even though I was interested in the subject matter as Groucho, too, was once a biker, riding the open road on his motorized steed, wind in his hair and bugs in his teeth. Then, that whole fear-of-death thing, and my wife threatening divorce, not necessarily in that order, parked my rice-rocket permanently. [/wistful]

But since another season is coming so quickly, that means they'll probably have a DVD set out pretty soon, no? And since I'm now an insufferable BD snob, I'll need to watch that version so they better make one at the same time. Dang, that Netflix account is getting harder and harder to avoid...

Maybe time for a provider switch, I think FX-HD is fairly common on most systems now. If I'm not mistaken, "The Shield" was the last 4x3 scripted drama on FX, everything else is HD now.

I've been with both satellite services in prior years, but TWC has their tentacles embedded pretty deeply in me now as I bundle internet service with them as well, and I like their DVR's. Cable broadband is a must, as FIOS hasn't gotten here yet. So, alas, I'm stuck.

Yes, I kept Comcast for their internet and the local HD, plus I have an S3 TiVo to use with Comcast so I'm pretty happy. Actually, because of the difference in stand-alone internet and bundled, I figure I'm getting my local HD(Limited Basic) for "free". I've had D* for everything else, although my local Comcast finally added a bunch of HD channels, including FX-HD, but it was too late for me, I'm sticking with D* for the foreseeable future.

BTW, for the D* and Comcast packages my total runs about $160 a month which I don't think is too bad. A lot of money nowadays, but there are priorities and TV/internet are near the top of the list, food and housing, well...

Can't argue with your priorities! Anyway, I'm back up to $150/mo with TWC, which admittedly is too much.

Yeah, it's the transition to another provider/package setup which can be a pain sometimes, even if it may be cheaper on a monthly basis. I do expect the the entry cost to DirecTV will become a lot more manageable as time goes on given the state of the economy, they're not stupid, they realize that things like subscription TV will be one of the things people look at cutting. I wouldn't be surprised if a $0 upfront cost becomes a reality soon. I know some folks have been successful at getting a deal like that now, but it's not the norm as far as I can tell.

To be honest, in general, I think cable is still over-priced no matter which provider you're talking about, they just seem to think they can continue to raise rates come hell or high water, some 150%+ the rate of inflation over the last 10 years.
