That would be room and taste dependent, I prefer to play the native format of the disc without post processing so if it's 5.1 that's what I play. Blu Rays are coming out with 7.1 material so it's probably just a matter time before that's the standard anyways..
Personally for 90% HT use the Integra 9.9 would be my choice and I'd apply the difference in funds to room treatments and sub or speaker upgrades. (You might already be there so it could be a moot point.)
My experience to date having owned the predecessor of the 9.9, M15HD and now the AVP is that the "huge difference" thing is always overstated.
Yes, the M15 was better than the 9.8 and I think the AVP s better than both, but by very slim margins and if you're paying attention. But the truth is when you're actually into the movie or material itself
and not assessing the sound quality at the same time you'll enjoy any of them. They all put out exceptional sound.
