Thanks to this forum, I picked up the $339 (+$25 GC) LG from Best Buy and now I need some media to show it off. What movies would you consider "must have" in HD DVD and Blu-Ray?

Also, I expect you can pick up HD DVDs fairly cheaply now, anywhere I should be looking?

Hot Fuzz, Cars, Blade Runner, Nightmare Before Christmas, Planet Earth, Pan's Labyrinth, Sunshine . . . just to name a few.

Ultimate Matrix Collection

why pay $91 for blu-ray version when you can pay $29 for HD DVD version?

if you want cheap HD-DVD's, check out Fry's, Deepdiscountdvd.com, and amazon.com.

For video quality, TMNT and King Kong are stellar on HD DVD.

For Blu-Ray, check out Apocalypto, Cloverfield and Transformers... For HD DVD, check out "Galapagos" (also available on Blu-Ray) and The Bourne Ultimatum.

Actually AVS people as well as Ralph Potts made a few lists for you:

Get Beowulf and Transformers on HDDVD. Less than 1/3 the price of the Bluray. Check the vendors listed above, and also check Inetvideo.com.

Thanks for the info! I've got my first round of HD DVD discs on the way and will browse the sites for more today.

When I look at the HDDVD catalogue vs. BD's - it is amazing that BR prevailed with that lack of entertainment.
