While I'm a firm, founding 'Fringe' fan and am glad we're getting this final season, I'm a little disappointed at the revelation of the Observers to be little more than high-tech Nazis. I always expected something more from those bald, Tabasco-loving, fedora-wearing, bland-dressing dudes. If they're primary job was to protect the future time-line, they're sure altering it big-time by accelerating global warming to provide a less oxygen rich environment for themselves. I suppose that creates the world they will inhabit in the far future - fine - but how does that jibe with their rather benign actions from earlier seasons? And if our heroes defeat them, won't that alter that future? If so, doesn't that mean that the Fringe team will actually have to travel to another alternate universe (maybe the Redverse?) to live out their lives in a "normal", Observer-absent world? Or conversely, if they do defeat the Observers, which they will of course, doesn't that essentially wipe out the Observers from this universe and its future, kind of negating everything that's come before?
Or, maybe I'm just overthinking it. Gosh, that's
never happened before.
I'm kind of with Cap'n Janeway on this time travel stuff. Makes my head hurt.
