Having watched the S5 premiere twice now, I get the sense that a relatively short amount of time (several weeks or a few months at most) passed between the initial Observer invasion & the triggering of the amber devices. Etta of course looks to have vanished (or been taken) during the initial attack. Olivia was seemingly able to say on task w/ Walter & Astrid on September's elimination plan, whereas Peter was too consumed with guilt over the loss of his & Olivia's daughter (shades of Walter's long standing guilt from losing Peter/taking Alt-Peter...and after the S3/S4 "reset", the loss of both Peters) and went off to find his child. I do not think it was so much a case of Peter & Olivia splitting up as it was Peter bailing on saving the world to find Etta, which led to some obvious strain between the 2 (not to mention Walter).
Where did Etta go? I doubt she was taken by the Observers....and based on the relationship we saw between Etta & the aged Nina Sharp in Letters of Transit
, my money is on her ending up w/ Nina after the amber was triggered, just like the rebooted universe's Olivia decades earlier.
I would not be surprised to see at least a few more flashbacks this season, if not an entire 2015-based episode. But curious to see why/how Peter ended up back w/ Walter & Co to get ambered, as well as Bell's role in all of this (and not just his hand), and if we get to see Henry Ian Cusick again - his character being referenced could be hints of seeing him later on....or it may be the last we hear of him. Being found out as a resistance member may lead to a semi-permanent amber situation. And of course the Observers now know Etta's role in said resistance.....
If nothing else, the previews after the episode did hint at Walter dropping more acid soon, so I think all will be OK in the end.Edited by jwebb1970 - 10/2/12 at 9:29am
