Woah, hang on -- I think you're mixing up a few things here.
HDCD is 16-bit, 44.1 kHz PCM signal -- like CDDA but somehow enhanced.
SACD is a 1-bit, 2822 kHz DSD signal. They are very
different formats (though they can and have been combined into hybrid SACD/HDCD discs).
Neither format uses 176.4 kHz, although 'Red Book' PCM can be upsampled to it and DSD (also '5.1') can be converted to it, which PS3 does.
The new Sony SACD player offers both options -- transparent DSD output or PCM conversion. I hope the Oppo will too, but we have to wait. Some Oppo SACD-compatible players feature DSD output via HDMI, others don't.
