I've been reading this thread for a couple of hours and it looks like one just jumps in and hijacks the thread.
SO here I go. I got this 806 for a couple of years and I am using it mainly to watch tv. I have a receiver for each major network, going thru a Tivo and into the 806 and to the TV from there. I'm using Sennheiser wireless headphones . Supposedly the TV is always too loud, so I have to use earphones if I want to listen to something. My Bose speakers are hooked up, but not used. What a waste hm ? My TV is a Toshiba 65H80 rear projector HD. It is probably at least 10 years old, but it has great pix, still. It has no HDMI input, only component for HD. It has 1080 I or P I'm not sure right now. Is there a way to use the HDMI inputs on the 806 ? But I can't use the HDMI output because the TV doesn't have an HDMI input. I thought using and HDMI to component adapter cable would do the trick, but it doesn't work. Any suggestions ?
Since my TIVOS are also fairly old, only 480i, I have to use either S-video or the yellow cables for video. I have 2 HD FTA receivers and a HD Tivo . The problem I actually have is with the audio from the 806. All of a sudden there is a click and the sound is gone. I have to change to another input and back to get it back. It does that with all inputs quite frequently. After a while it get annoying. I think there may be a capacitor problem somewhere, and that's where I need you guys expertise . I never had the 806 apart or even the cover off. I'll have to do that, because I'm sure there is a lot of dust in there which may not do any good to the health of the 806.
I know I should get a new TV which has the HDMI inputs, but don't have the $ 1800.00 + to get one and this Toshiba is still working good. The sound problem I need to address before I loose it completely. Thanks for your help folks.
