Hi everyone,
I came home from work yesterday to find that my new bride, who just spent her first day alone at the house, watching a movie.
What was strange is that the display in front of my TX-SR805 Onkyo receiver was off. I asked if it was always off, but she didn't know because she never really paid attention to it and she's only been at the house for a week or so and I always took care of the entertainment center before.
I fiddled with the controls and read the manual. The only reference I could find was if the "Pure Audio" was on, the display would shut off. However, I turned the Pure Audio setting on and off a few times, so I don't think it's that.
I also reset the receiver to factory settings.
If I pushed the "Dimmer" button, I could see it cycling through the different dimmer settings only because the volume knob would light up, but the display would remain off.
I realize it's an amazing coincidence that my receiver's display would break the first time my wife uses it, so I'm thinking it might just be something she did to turn it off. I'll be durned if I can figure out what it is. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Otherwise, I think it's broken.
Thanks!
