The Mentalist on CBS HD - Page 6

Yeah, but I was surprised that Patrick was carrying a gun, he hates them, but since he was sure Red John was gonna show somehow maybe he was preventing that..

Didn't he saw the gun in the newspaper way before? I did.. I thought Jane was going to try to grab it when RJ was busy reading the other newspaper..

Well there's that and of course he read the script.

I wonder if when they wrote/filmed this episode maybe there was a question about whether or not the show would get picked up for another season? This would have been a pretty satisfying series end, unlike most shows that get cancelled and never resolve major story lines.

One thing not mentioned but it seems obvious is that there were 2 moles. The FBI guy and the CBI head. The Assassin went to room 605 to check on the CBI head info and if it was a ruse, would repel down to 505 to check the FBI info. So when Jane set up the lunch, the CBI head contacted Red John but it wasn't until the lunch that Jane realized that there two moles.

So the CBI head still needs to dealt with.

I don't think that's what was implied....I think the assassin was going to room 505 all along and just happened to use 605 to repel down. I may be wrong, but that is how I interpretted it.

yeah total misdirection by the assassin, go to floor 7, stairs to floor 6, repel to floor 5 (taking precautions in case she was being followed)..

Man how powerful must Red John be to convince so many people to kill and die for him?

...it does raise the question, though, of how Red John knew that Patrick would be at the mall (or wherever that was).

No way. After CSI and Criminal Minds, it was the surest renewal on CBS.

I think the O'loughlin's necklace had a listening device? the last thing he did before he did is rip it from Grace's neck (perhaps protecting Grace from Red John).
Maybe my favorite line of the season "you look like a princess"...."an angry little princess".

Edit - The more I think about this (it's a slow day at work) the more I can't believe the Red John story is over. There is a lot of the back story, his motivation, connections within CBI/FBI/Government, etc. which could be told Perhaps RJ is dead, but those connections may take center stage next season.

That's what I was thinking.

Very satisfying to see Jane get Red John. I guess next season will begin with Jane in court?
Red John was Josh Lyman with a rug?

I, too don't think the RJ story is over. There are just way too many loose ends in this storyline.

The ending took me by surprise. But then the teasers all promised a meeting between the two, not a "showdown". The teasers also promised a real cliffhanger. The only "cliffhanger" would seem to be how Jane gets out of a murder charge. I'm not sure I would define this as a cliffhanger.

Did we ever see just why the female assassin fell? I thought she was going to drop down one floor.

I hope it is over. They really overplayed that gimmick and had the word "red" in every show title. The writing of the show is very uneven. Some weeks it is brilliant and other weeks it is a bore and I cannot even make it through the whole show.

With recent court rulings and a liberal heading the FCC, there is no reason they could not have some Amanda Righetti nude scenes. Heck, they have had nudity on European, New Zealand, and Australian TV for many decades. Why are US TV broadcasters such prudes?

I am all for the Amanda Righetti nude scenes. They should be liberal throught the episode and occur in every episode, and also occur without any snipes/overlays obscuring the picture!

You can see Amanda Righetti nude in Angle Blade on DVD like I did. Movie is grade C; nudity is grade A.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0291180/

There is another site that claims to allow you to watch it on-line for free. I have never watched a movie on-line because I have dial-up. I do not understand why or how people offer movies on-line without charge. Is this a illegal site?

http://www.ovguide.com/movies_tv/angel_blade.htm - this site offers it "free" on-line

RED JOHN LIVES!

He appeared as a defense attorney in the episode "Big Rock Mesa" on Law & Order: Los Angeles.
I liked his acting in the brief minutes we got to see him on Mentalist, wish he could have stuck around for a bit longer.

They will find the gun that Red John (unless he is yet another disciple/proxy) had. Self defense.

The female assassin saw she was going to be arrested and chose to let go of the rope and commit suicide.

Finding the gun is simple enough. Still don't see the "cliffhanger".

Yeah don't see how it's a real cliffhanger either. Some of the episodes I did skip or delete a few minutes into. I hope next season is better.

I only watched the "dick and jane" serial killer episodes of last seasons CSI unless something changes I don't think I will watch it all anymore.
I don't see how it can be self defense. RJ was walking away posing no threat to Jane. Jane approached him and had him turn around. It didn't look like RJ was pointing the gun at Jane at that time. And since there are video camera's showing that part of the mall, the whole thing should have been caught. Whatever happens, that was a great episode.

Well, it wasn't actually self-defense, but since Red John had the gun in his hand, and I believe still he had the gun pointed at Jane inside the newspaper. So I would think that a self-defense argument would hold up pretty well...

Agreed, I enjoyed his performance in the part, a somewhat difficult one given how much anticipation and myth had been built-up around the Red John character.

I also thought his comic turn on the short-lived Fox comical cop series "The Good Guys" was a revelation. Guys got talent.

If nothing else, he still has his network of true-believer minions. What is left for them to do but to either commit mass suicide or exact revenge for the loss of their svengali Jim Jones genius mastermind?

My feeling is RJ wasn't the guy pulling the strings. It's hard to believe, for example, that he, an outsider, was able to get the FBI guy on board.

I suspect there is someone of power at large who will surface as the focus of next years season.
