He's back.

Was the SJK killed by RJ:

1. A coincidence (I doubt it)
2. A reminder that he's still out there (partially).
3. Was RJ simply pissed about the lack of respect shown by the SJK (possibly)

If 3, then who knew about SJK's bad mouthing of RJ? I don't think anyone but Jane was in the room when it happened, was there?

He was on TV when he was bad mouthing RJ, so tons of people would have seen it....I thought it was pretty clear that he killed him because of what he said about him.

I wish I had it DVR'd...

He made some comments on TV, but I thought he really tore into RJ when they were alone, sigh, memories fade way to quickly these days

RJ couldn't take the insult from the SJK, and sent a clear message to Jane while at it...

I thought it was obvious that RJ would return after Jane did tv interview
(just the sight of the reporter earlier in the episode made me think that)

My take is that with the way they showed Jane looking into the red flashing light of the camera for so long it seemed he was contemplating just how to handle the idea that SJK may be about to get away with it.
He then deliberately manipulated both SJK and Red John, SJK into the on camera tirade about Red John knowing the outcome, and Red John into taking that action.

Jane triggered the response by SJK on purpose. Like he warned in past episodes, you should never antagonize RJ on tv. Jane got the exact response he wanted.

Finally a good episode from this season.

I agree. I thought this episode was "Dexter" by proxy. Jane did not want SJK to get away. But how can they reintroduce MMcD without making it too obvious that he runs the RJ cult?

I knew right away it was intentional by Jane, and my first thought was just that he was trying to prove to Lisbon and others that Red John isn't dead.

Some people are jumping the gun and saying that Red John is Patrick himself, esquizo and all..

Great episode! Jane played SJK like a fiddle and then threw down the ace card by having SJK invoke RJ on TV. Brilliant.

The Mentalist is certainly one of our favorites for a variety of reasons. However, I just discovered this tread (and section) and I briefly perused the pages. Does anyone else feel as strongly with regard to the audio production quality that's associated with the show? I'm especially fond of the LF, and the sparing manner in which the LF is handled. Nice tasty, punchy and deep, yet relatively sparse, and often used at unusual moments not at all associated with action,......all a nice combination.

Also, this past episode was an outstanding example of why we truly enjoy this show. Some nice tense scenes, and upon staring into the network camera, red light flashing, he knew right then what was to come. A bit too predictable until the final scene,...made a good episode very good. I felt that Patrick may be the perp, until the symbol on the wall was shown. Still, interesting thoughts swirling around regarding Patrick's motivations, etc.

Anyway, killer bass material for your subwoofer system in The Mentalist, prolly my fave.

Yeah, what the hell? Somewhat disappointing as the circumstances were certainly building.

Minds and CSI ran reruns 2 Wednesdays ago... a lot of shows were down last night.

As always, 22 episodes in a ~37 week TV season and if there's 1 net that does a poor job of scheduling repeats it's definitely not CBS.

Could it be because of 1st Thursday night game this season?

Holding for the end o'sweeps week?

There's a football game on the next 7 Thursday nights isn't there? I don't see why it would make any difference. Half of the country doesn't get the NFL Network anyways.

My guess it was a Veterans Day, extended weekend scenario. Who knows Sucks, as we sat down, pulled it up on the DVR recordings and began. Then upon seeing the cop in the first scene,..we both said whoa, what's up. We try never to read the info line items, so potential spoilers/plot twists won't burn us.

Enjoyed Morena Baccarin once more...

I'm also thinking that Bret Stiles knows Red John somehow, that's why Patrick did him a "favor"... (or perhaps he's Red John)

NO wonder this series keeps losing steam.. Lackluster plots I still watch but haven't enjoyed this show as much this time .. Cho still rocks and Lisbon is cool but Jane's getting annoying..

So funny a week or two ago when Jane was looking for someone to pose as an Irish guy.. and looked over at Cho...

And they're shedding viewers. I find myself barely paying attention and watching out of habit. I wish they'd get back to the season 1 and 2 stuff that had me watching nearly the entire season in 1 sitting.

Probably regretting that unfortunate username choice right about now, ain't ya?

Must be a matter of varying appeal, as I've felt these shows have been solid.



Morena Baccarin,..wow, even had my wife entirely en-rapt. When lisbon questioned why every guy fawned over her,..... Grace Van Pelt; "I get it"

Additionally, wrt Stiles, yes, some link w/Red John,...or as stated, is Red John.
