Not sure how well this works in every browser but in Firefox, when I don't get the results I want from a forums search engine, I use this method (don't know what it is called but I have been using it for several years, as needed):
In the address bar at the top, you wipe out the address that is there and you start by typing in a relevant keyword. If you are getting too many results with just one key word you can try multiple keywords. In this case, you would leave a space after the first keyword and then add a "+" sign immediately in front of each additional keyword. When done with keywords, leave another space and then type, "site:" and immediately follow it with the website address you want to search.
So in this example of trying to locate mentions of
The Mentalist on this forum, the first keyword combo I tried was the following, which brought up immediately useful results (this thread was the first in the list of search results):
mentalist +cbs site:www.avsforum.com
It's a bit of an art form choosing optimal keywords so this search method can be hit or miss sometimes, but if often works very well.
