All Digital: A Successor to Panasonic XR57 or JVC RX-D412?

Anything on the horizon?

Or any other exciting digital receivers coming out?

(I love digital - I got hooked on an XR57 and don't want to go back to hot, bulky and expensive analog amps:-)

BTW, wasn't there a sticky for digital receivers/amps?

Do a search for the Sa-bx500, coming out shortly in October.
Lightweight, Digital amps, 130wx7 (@6 ohms?).
3 HDMI in, 1 out
TrueHD/DTS-Ma capable.

not sure exactly what they've done with the amps, but one guy (danny i think his name was) commented that it sounded a little smoother across the mids and highs but still managed to retain some detail.
sounds promising.

The panny lost its sleek form factor though. New guy looks pretty tall.

hope it helps.

It has been a few years since I was a regular lurker and I too am wondering what happened to all the talk of digital amps. It wasn't all that long ago that they were all the rage for many users. I am pleased with my XR-55, but it is time to upgrade again.

Can anyone sumerize as to what happened to them?

I suspect it had to do with the advent of HDMI coming and the need for multi channel surround and the inability for some of these amps to handle it properly.

Thanks in advance.
