I could swear that the interface is VMC... it sure looks like it to me... but then I am probably wrong!

OT: I also need to get an additional enclosure, I need to find an 8-bay eSATA or USB2 hot swap chassis so I can connect more drives to my WHS. There are almost none available in Europe, so if anyone has a suggestion on where to get one I'm listening.

Okay, I rather than continue the hijack I started, I created a separate thread about Video Browser. One of the coolest VMC plug ins right now IMHO.

Don't know about those scripts, I've been using eac3to with the "eac3to and More" GUI - works great.

Here in Ireland they are 160 euro - so 205 dollars and the normal Xonar cost around $340... imported from the UK.

Is anyone else having problems with playing games after installing Splendid HD?

I have vista 64bit and an ATI 4870x2. I am using the latest drivers. Before getting this card I had no problems playing any games. Now I can't play any games once I install the splendid HD drivers.

The only way I can play games again is to reinstall the graphics card drivers. I presume this ruins the Splendid Hd drivers?

Has anyone else had any problems like this?

I find centrecom beat them in price often. Always good to compare the 2 at least.

Vista configuration question

Something I noticed while I was trying (unsucessfully) to solve my vista bitstreaming glitches, is that I had a Microsoft HDMI device showing in the Sound config panel along with the Asus HDAV Speaker and Digital devices. Should that be showing there - or should I disable that device ?

It was suggested ages back to set the hardware acceleration of the card below full - another user was getting BSOD with it on full with games. Something to do with DirectX using the card. Dunno if this is similar?

Ive got some problems in a few of the games I played, my computer will crash and reboot or sometimes drop to windows with a audio stream still playing (means I have to reboot anyways since no sound is working). The games Ive had this problem with is fear combat and far cry 2, I cant be 100% sure its the soundcard that does this though. Ive also tried with no hardware accleration both in windows and ingame settings.

When I play DD & DTS using spdif with kmplayer or windows media player classic I will get reboots as well, thats if I dont uncheck the spdif box and check it after I started the movie file. Ive had this problem since I installed the first beta driver xonar released, also after a clean windows xp reinstall.

Can someone confirm they are also having dificulty getting a standard DD or DTS stream with TMT and DVD's? No matter what I try, i cant get DVD audio to bitstream anymore! Only converted to PCM and then to my receiver.

SPDIF=No Sound
HDMI=No Sound
2CH,5.1CH= PCM to receiver.

Nope, works here (WinXP SP3). Just that the framerate isn't smooth and there's hiccups so I just use PowerDVD for DVD playback - perfectly smooth.

Are you sure you've 100% removed the drivers for your old sound card?

I had some problems launching games and had to search out some files left behind by soundmax drivers to get them to work. Just a thought.
Drivers are fully removed, I used the uninstall, then rebooted in safemode and ran driver sweeper and there was no trace of any creative drivers left.

I get the same thing as Marflow. Sometimes the game crashes with the sound looping and I have to reboot. Sometimes I get the intro screen fine, but, once I try into actually play the game it crashes. I am not getting any BSOD's just crashes to desktop.

How do I turn down acceleration in Vista 64 bit?

Hello,
in my experience, you can't turn off acceleration in Vistas, but I can tell, that I'm running Far Cry 2 in Vista 64 on Xonar pretty well. The symptoms you described I know as more than healthy OC graphic card, so if you heve it OC turn it off and try.

Hope it helps.

Are you switched to "Digital Device"?

Kamil, I have nothing overclocked in my system. All games work fine normally. They only stop working after I install the splendidHd drivers. I guess I will just have to wait and see if the next set of drivers will solve this problem.

Thanks for all the help.

Yeah, I did that too but had to manually remove the troublesome file.

Have you tried that GamerOSD thing? I guess it's over bright without the splendid driver installed.
Reading about the issues with splendid is amusing... here you've spent several hundred dollars to achieve audio nirvana - un-molested bit-perfect audio.... but now your PC is molesting your video ....

I have tried it noth with and without the gamerosd installed. Doesn't seem to make any difference. And yeah it's way overbright without the splendid Hd installed.

In my opinion everything looks much better with the Splendid Hd installed. Movies look amazing. Everything is fine and I am really liking my the Asus card in regard to sound and video. Games are the problem, they crash too often :-(

But maybe it's the beta audio driver that is causing the problems and I can't wait until they have a final release.

Or maybe they aren't going to do any more updates for this card and all these issues will be solved in the new version of the card that I read about here.

Erm, no it isn't. Not unless the splendid option is turned on.

I just tested few DTS DVDs and I have the same setting as the BD HD codec setting as below BUT the only thing I need to change for DTS DVD is I have to use "SPDIF" in TMT in order to have DTS light up in my pre-amp. For HD codec for BD, I have to leave it as "HDMI" in TMT in order to have TureHD or DTS MA light up in my pre-amp. Hope that help.

7.1
8 channels
PCM 192KHz
