Hello all,
New to the Xonar stuff and I have a few questions. I am considering upgrading to this card for two main reasons. To play my backed up DVD collection and to play flawless audiophile grade sound on my Magnepans.

I am using HDAV1.3 20% of the time for 2 channel stereo and 80% of the time to do BD and DVD bitstream different codec from TrueHD, DTS MA to DTS to my temporary pre-amp Onkyo 998 until my Theta HDMI1.3 upgrade available. HDAV1.3 delivers same as standalone players streams to my pre-amp. Hints, we can use this card to play the back up movies as you mentioned from our HTPC.
Now, to answer your question, if you don't have a HDMI pre-amp, you might want to consider the deluxe version; 6 analogs out to your non-HDMI/RCA pre-amp.
Check out below thread and they discuss the deluxe version of this card.
