Eric

Isn't it just a case of updating the cryptography settings stored in the player? That could be done by Windows Update.

I'm not doubting what you say, they've not announced support. I just think it's a shame.

EDIT: Just had a thought - Microsoft don't have any rights to Java any more, do they? Quite a few discs use that for menus, etc. so unless they somehow cut a deal with Sun again (not likely) you wouldn't be able to play the movie even if everything else was there. Bah!

There's a possibility that Scan in the UK have them in Deluxe version. Would need a call/e-mail though to check.

Scan have the 8 version. I did ask them before ordering and they promised me it was the updated 9 version, but it was not. They have agreed to refund me. They also have no idea when they will get the new cards. I would advise ordering elsewhere, where they are willing to check their stock for the serial number, and not a company like Scan who will clearly say anything to get you to make the purchase.

I'm not surprised. OcUK have got some deluxes in but they have the old firmware on them.

Actually, when was that though?

This week, I have now got to stay in one day next week for them to collect it. I cannot believe ASUS are making it so hard to source this revised unit.
Asus are probably trying to clear old stock.

I know that OcUK have sent most of they're stock for the firmware upgrade but can't get a timescale on how long it will take. I guess they'll send the ones they have in stock for flashing once they get those back.

It's pants because I've already been without my card for over a week and I don't know how much longer it will take.

I have not looked at this thread in month while waiting for the "full meal deal" on HD video/audio playback. I know I should look through and do multiple searches but hopping someone(s) will indulge my laziness and answer the following questions.

1)Will the ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 Sound card now do bitstream of all BD/HD DVD audio codecs?

2)Does it do LPCM up to to 96Khz 24-bit 7.1?

3) Will the OEM (or upgraded) Arcsoft play BD and HD DVD bit streaming all audio codes?

4)Is it fully compatible with the LG Blu-ray/HD DVD drive?

In a nutshell can I now build a HTPC that will do all that my STB Sony BD350 and HD DVD players do? I'm ready to get back to using an HTPC.

If this was a sticky you wouldn't have had to ask here.

i am so glad now i sent mine back to scan last october when they first arrived in the UK, by the time Asus sort this fiasco out the Auzentech wilkl be available and probably working 100% from day one. Here's Hopeing
post #5110 of 9491
I don't know where you get your info, but if you had been following the news you would have known that there will be no other HDMI/HDCP PC solution before Q3 2009.

I'm not a gambler by any stretch, but this is a bet even I would take.

What is there to sort out? If you want bitstreaming and you don't need 1080p At 24 FPS then buy one now. If you need 1080p at 24 FPS then wait 3 weeks for the slimline card.

The better bet would be that the Auzentech card will NEVER happen and that they will go bankrupt before the 3rd quarter.

What is there to sort out from the lengh that this thread has become i would say a great deal, Whats the point in watching blu ray without 1080/24p thats for starters and then there is the issue with TMT and no VMC intergration, thats 2 things and the 24p is important to me anyway.

A few weeks sure is a lot less time than 3rd quarter '09...

The length of this thread means much has been sorted out... Not everything, but most of the egregious showstoppers. 24p has been resolved but may be hard to be certain is fixed in the particular board you get for the next few weeks, my understanding is that the VMC integration is likely to be addressed (others may have better info on that) and so if you really want a bitstreaming solution you may be able to have confidence you can get one in a few weeks. I am waiting for the slim card to see what the price is and I have little faith in the Auzen for no good reason other than the continual delays and the history they have. Also I am getting the idea that PDVD9 is a bit of a debacle at the moment...

Question regarding playback of multichannel audio files.

I have a lot of multichannel audio files (i.e., .dts or .ac3 files that have been demuxed from concert DVD, multichannel flac transcoded from DVD-Audio discs, and even some lossless 5.1 .wma files from analog recording of my SACDs via maudio 1010LT soundcard). Currently I play these files from my htpc and send the audio to my receiver's multichannel analog audio inputs. Sometime in the future I will be getting a receiver that is HDMI-capable...

Will the ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 (current or upcoming version) allow me to send the audio from these files to a HDMI-capable receiver as PCM-over-HDMI? And would the fact that it would be PCM/HDMI output instead of analog output be transparent to the playback software?

This is probably a silly question, sorry - I tried searching but didn't find the answer and I haven't been following HTPC hardware lately. Any input is appreciated, thanks!
damn, now I can't seem to stop the card messing with my back channels. Rear right audio tests can be heard (slightly) in rear left and vice versa. Not good enough.... seriously can't believe I am here for two days trying to fix this card.....

Is there any beta vista drivers guys that came out after December. I am having problems with basic DD and DTS playback. Even my old audigy 2 could at least get the sound coming from the right channels. I have the control panel in vista and the drivers matching, 24bit, 48khz, 5.1 channels. Hi-Fi mode on, no effects.

All I want is 5.1 channel sources to play out of 5.1 channels with no effects
2 channel sources to play out of front, and mirrored to rear.

I can't even achieve the first never mind the second. Please Asus don't charge such a premium for these cards if they don't work out of the box.

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) Yes
4) Almost certainly (if they are in fact BD discs).
5) It won't and ever work with HD DVD, you most likely already have a player purchased in a firesale for next to nothing, so this really shouldn't even matter.
6) 24p works in 2009 versions I bought mine from ZZF and it is that version
7) No VMC integration
8) Auzentech is never going to release their card
9) I don't think there is any reason remaining to hold out, short of waiting for the slim version (ie no PCIe slots remaining, you want to go cheaper, you don't enough space in your case, etc)

Btw, the PCIe version is huge. I have plenty of clearance in my full size ATX HTPC case at least I thought so, and it still barely fits.

A 1080p @ 24 FPS video can be played losslessly at 1080p @ 60 FPS if the conversion is done properly.

Concerning 1 & 3, I'm not having bistreaming of all HD DVD audio. I'm sure the Xonar can as asked in 1 but not in 3 since ASUS .126 won't. But I guess you quantify that with #5. There also, it plays HDDVD but audio is best in spdif.

Thanks, great link and info. Also I agree it should be a sticky. Have you petitioned the moderators for sticky status?

Also (anyone) how does it/they (software and or hardware) handle HD DVD audio? Does it/they convert HD DVD TrueHD and DD+ audio tracks to LPCM and if so is it 48/24 or down converted?
I am disappointed with HDDVD audio support. Best luck in spdif. Disks seem to be handled differently. I can get analog sometimes, enabling audio mixer helps on others. I'm wasting my time complaining but retail TMT does it better, and they say it's ArcSofts fault, of course no bitstream.

FYI

My RMA to Fremont took 14 days, P.O. back to doorstep. Little 1.39 sticker. Came out of XP machine w/o daughter. Put it in Vista w/daughter. No issues. Now Vista Xonar off to RMA.

Is anyone having problems playing Sleeping Beauty? I bought this for my kids and I don't think we've been able to get through the entire movie once. The most frequent problem seems to be TMT completely freezing during the preview at the beginning of the movie. If I try and hit the next chapter (I have AnyDVDHD installed) it still hangs. In fact the hang is bad enough that I end up having to hit the reset button on my media center PC. I have the latest version of TMT and the Xonar Drivers.

I tried this on another machine with Power DVD 8 and it seems to play just fine, so my best guess is the problem lies with this version of TMT and the Xonar. Thankfully this movie came with the DVD version as well so the girls can get their sleeping beauty fix!

My RMA'd card didn't come back with a little 1.39 sticker on it. Hmmmm...I haven't had a chance to even install the card to check if the firmware was updated. I'd better do that ASAP.

@Davinleeds
Did yours have a little sticker on it?

Just above the serial number. Of course, also shows 1.39 in Xonar info

I thought yours was replaced?
