Just one more thing. I gotta say, given the practical troubles that decoding on the PC is giving, I am in full agreement on doing bistream to avoid that. Given most current setups, I don't think decoded LPCM through HDMI would be the same as a bitstreamed setup.

What I'm disputing is that it's not necessarily due to LPCM vs. bistream, because nobody has been able (so far) to isolate that variable alone to come to that conclusion.

Again, I don't have a reason not to believe you that you heard a difference, but in your tests, you could not be sure if bitstream vs. decoded LPCM was the only variable. You don't know for sure how metadata is being handled by the different decoders, for one. There could be other variables as well. That's all I'm saying.

Be sure to let me know when your tests can account for every variable.

Because I can't, I don't go around making any extraordinary claims.

If you can't account for every significant variable, then your test is as good as anything else, and why do it in the first place. Homeopathy has been "proven" correct like this, for example.

What you were testing (and what your tests are valid for) is the difference between those systems, not the specific difference between bistream vs. decoded LPCM. That you can't account for every variable exactly invalidated them for the latter purpose. For the former purpose, you may well be absolutely right that the bitstreamed system was better..

Has anyone used the Hauppauge 1212 with the ASUS HDAV before?

Can anyone help with this question? I really want to get the Haupauge card but I want to make sure it will allow me to use it while keeping my existing TMT installation.

Can you install TME from the Hauppauge card and stilll keep your existing TMT installation from the ASUS card?

Can you please elaborate what is not working with the VMC integration?

Thanks!

Bitstreaming with the 64 driver is still broken. Don't they test these things?

EDIT: Bitstreaming works now after an intensive cleaning of the Xonar drivers with Drivercleaner.NET

EDIT2: Still no VMC.

Can anybody else confirm that? If that is true, we will see a newer TMT version with the new driver as soon as its posted on the official download page I suppose.

Could anyone post a link, the server is busy like hell, thx!

I mean the driver version .....64 for Vista

TMT bitstream is NOT broken. You just need to clean the old driver properly with Drivercleaner (choose C-Media). Just uninstalling won't work. After clean reinstall TMT 126 and 127 worked.

I was wondering, for those that sent their cards for RMA, did you get an email notification when it shipped back to you? I'm annoyed because I checked the status on Tuesday and it said "repairing", which was fine, but then later that day the status said "Ready for Shipping" and it's been like that for 2 days now, and I have not received an email about shipping. I'm just trying to figure out if that status means it shipped.

I got mine back without any notice.

Sweet baby jeebus! Take the LPCM vs bitstreaming crap to another thread. Having to wade through pages of this garbage to get to actual on-topic info is getting really old.

I was hoping my comments would shut it down so that is not necessary. Sorry if I offended you...

BTW - Has anyone got any more info on the release date for the Slim version? I am one of those waiting to see what it sells for and how well it works...

Lol, did you notice that bitstreaming is one of the most important functions of the HDAV?

People were talking about the ATI for pages in this thread. This is what has to be taken to another thread.

If you don't like the discussion about if bitstream is needed or if there is a difference against LPCM, than just stay away from the thread instead of making dumb comments.
Thx!

No, he's right. Bitstream vs LPCM is a separate topic that's not specific to the HDAV so please take the discussion elsewhere.

On both rma's I had to ask live support for status and tracking numbers. Never got an email.

Any release notes or what's changed with the new .127 TMT and the new asus xonar drivers. What's this about the no x64 drivers for vista?
my apologies if this has been asked or discussed in the previous posts - so ultimately, what video card works better with the HDAV1.3, ATI or Nvidia? and as far as HD Video quality is concerned, is one better than the other?

So, you cannot even launch the disk/TMT within let's say MyMovies?

Well thats your opinion, I do see this discussion necessary regarding the HDAV since bitstream is whats the HDAV is mostly about.

A VMC plugin seems to be the solution, OML for instance. I use Media Browser, which has BD playback integration. Will try ASAP.
