TMT has nothing to do with it. Splendid is bundled with GamerOSD and is listed under utilities.

I've got windows set to the HDMI option I believe and set as the default.
I'll have to go downstairs to check it.

Thanks for asking and looking for me.

I think this thread has become obsolete due to newer video cards having HDMI and just simply feeding your receiver direct HDMI does just as good, I guess.

Cheers

I'm using a Slim in my second htpc. My main does have a 1.3 Deluxe which I hope to put back together today.

hmmmm

I'm wondering, does the Total Media Theater version from the ASUS web site have something to do with Splendid and or can only the version on the Asus web site 3.3 interface with the ASUS HDAV 1.3 dlx and 1.3 slim?

The TMT3 from the Asus website will work without the HDAV but there will be no bitstreaming of HD audio.

Such a simple fix. I thought that was only for games and I don't play games anymore.

Thxs bunch.

It now shows AUDIO/VIDEO.

Now do I just max out all those volume crtls and crtl volume via my amp volume. I was thinking this might lead to clipping.

And how does one tell he's actually bit streaming?

I only use hdmi and I run my volume @ 100%.

By bitstreaming, do you mean DTS-HD MA and TrueHD? If you are feeding the HDAV's hdmi output directly to a receiver or pre/pro, does the receiver or pre/pro tell the input signal?

Man, I got more out of you and your post then 20 others combined.

So I could run straight HDMI from my video card and bypass or get rid of the ASUS xonar 1.3.

Run um at 100% Check!

And I don't yet have a blu ray player in the HTPC, but I understand now how to tell. Check!.

Thanks again.
Dave

It still sound darn good to me.

Yes, you can remove the Xonar from the audio chain but, if you decide to play Blu-ray rips or Blu-ray discs, you would a software player to do so. Your 1.3 should have come with an oem version of TMT3 which I find to be perfect for bitstreaming in combination with Xonar. With TMT3, you also get BR menu support.

Without the Xonar, I would never have been able to bitstream under WinXP Media Centre Edition.

Hi everybody....

I selled this card to a friend, who needs a 7.1CH analog connection.

Now the problem is that:

- front CHs sound
- center and sub CHs sound
- side and rear CHs NO sound

So is the H6 card the problem? Center and sub CHs are working!!

Any ideas?

We have already tryied to switch connection (i.e. Xonar front -> Preamp rear) and all is working, so we are sure that the problem is on the Xonar...

But is it software or hardware?

Thank you!

What settings did you choose in the Xonar setup program?

8ch input
7.1ch output

sub/center channel inversion
obviously analog output...

In HDAV centre, did you try output as analog, 5.1 for 5.1 sources and 7.1 for 7.1 sources, sample rate of 96k, and output as speakers in Windows?
Yep! All already tried...

Well if the thread labled "Hdav1.3 deluxe questions from a newbie" http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1412013 wasn't a kick in the pants.

To clarify;

So IF you have a HDMI video card (any it seems) and Windows 7, you don't need the ASUS XONAR SLIM or DELUXE 1.3 at all as long as you have software like TotalTheater 5 perhaps to play Blu ray HD?

Going through the HDMI on the video card will sound as good as going through the ASUS XONAR 1.3 DLX before I rip it out.

Somehow I thought there was an advantage to the Slim or DLX HDAV 1.3 still other then it came with Totalmedia 3.0 to play HD content. Perhaps having Splendid to enhance DVD's or the ability to play 5.1 from stereo which I don't like.

Wonder why there still selling for so much on Ebay, $280 or so? For those non HDMI older computers?

Well I do happen to have an older computer without HDMI the slim will suffice for right now on a stereo system only.

Simply: the DACs on the Xonar are much better than those on the Preamp...
I now I can use the HDMI to bitstream the audio, but the result is much different...

So going throught the HDMI is not the same thing... Now my problem is not HDMI or Analog, the problem is that in analog I have no sound fron backs and surrounds but have sound from fronts and center/sub!

Speaker # and size configured properly in Windows (sound>playback>configure) control panel? HDAV/speakers set as default?

Are yo saying the Preamp in my Pioneer SC27 is not as good?

Yes, all done!!

I never listened to the SC27, but in my case the HDAV is better than the preamp!

Not any card with HDMI will bitstream HD audio to a receiver, regardless of what software you use for playback. In order to bitstream or send uncompressed/non-downsampled pcm to a receiver via hdmi, the video card must have a protected audio path. By having a Xonar Slim or Deluxe in the pc, any hdmi card can bitstream HD audio.

The sound from an hdmi video without a protected audio path will not sound as good as the sound from a Xonar Slim or Deluxe when playing HD Bluray/HD-DVD tracks, assuming the receiver or pre/pro can decode DTS-HD and TrueHD.

When it comes to other audio formats, the HDAV has its advantages such as playing SACD rips.

Sorry guys, i'm new in this forum.. I just bought a new ASUS Xonar HDAV 1.3 as a hope to listen to DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD.. My Xonar is connected though HDMI cable to Denon AVR-1612 receiver. And i'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit operating system and TotalMedia 5 for playing Bluray.. But whenever i'm playing a Bluray disc through the TMT 5, i'm getting broken sound in every few seconds.. However, it can play the MP3 or wma normally with media player or Winamp.. Only the problem is when it tries to play DTS, Dolby or DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD.. I've tried other players like PowerDVD 12 or WINDVD 11 but still the same problem..

Here is my Xonar HDAV Center looks like:

I would be very grateful is you guys please help me out of this problem.. Thanks..

Have you tried changing from 8 to 6 speakers? What's your default output device? Mine is set for sp/dif passthrough.

I'm stumped then. Mine has always worked without issue from WinXP to Win7. I don't have any programs on my htpc other than TMT3, the HDAV control centre, and software for my audio receiver.

Did you install any additional codecs? Did you try uninstalling TMT5 and using the Asus version?

Actually I downloaded TMT3 from ASUS website.. But couldn't get a chance to get it work as I didn't have a licence key for it.. I tried to contact ASUS tech support but no reply from them yet.. If you could please let me know the licence key so that I can give TMT3 a go.. Thanks

Using TMT3.0.13.44 version

Playing Blu ray movie: Marvel The Avengers
While watching movie, at the top of the TMT, click on 'Settings' & bring up Information to reveal Primary Audio Attributes:
Source:
Type: DTS HD MSTR
No.of AUdio Channels: 2
Sampling Frequency: 48.0KHz
Bits Per Sample: 16
Language: English

At the same time, while watching movie, right click on the mouse and click on 'Information' to reveal this DTS-HD MSTR 48K/24 PCM.
Question:
1) Which is the incoming and outgoing audio sampling rate if any?
2) Is the audio being downsampled to 2 channels only and bits reduced to 16 even though using HDAV 1.3 Deluxe sound card with analog output?

I just checked Underworld Awakening and it says the same thing. In my case, I am feeding the audio to my receiver and my receiver is getting a 7.1 channel DTS-HD MA 48/24 signal.
