Do-It-Yourself 1080p Projector: Really.

Thought you guys might enjoy this. My pals at Revision3 made a Systm episode on making your own 1080p projector. It's a fun project, but not for the faint of heart.

If you guys have questions for these guys, let me know...or I guess you can hit up their forums.

(...and yes, a high definition version of this video is available as well.)

Enjoy!

Yeah, i've always enjoyed seeing those lumenlab builds. Too bad they never measure up to manufactured projectors in contrast and lumens. But a fun project never the less.

Cool! But what if you don't have room for a footlocker sized PJ?

I have built lumenlab projectors for some time now and they are very fun, but deffinently cant compete with a decent commercial projector, and they are beasts. I have built 1080P versions as well as 720P, and the 1080P version is extremely sharp, no SDE, but contrast and blacks are terrible, and brightness is terrible. Only good for a pitch dark room and a fun project. Now that you can get some 1080P projectors used for almost 1000$, its not worth doing. Theres not one commercial projector that ive owned that did not beat a DIY projector by a mile.
