Replay 5500 can't multitask?

post #1 of 5
Thread Starter
Hi;
I have an RTV5500 hooked into a wired network.
Today, I started a stream from the replay to my PC, and was playing the show, then tried to watch a different show on the replay at the TV where it is connected.
The Replay was very slow, then started playing audio, but no video.
Is the 5500 not capable of streaming one show and playing another locally?

Thanks for any advice

It's easy to stress out the minimal amount of memory and CPU in that puppy. Best results are obtained if all shows involved are in STANDARD resolution. If any of the shows involved were MEDIUM or HIGH, it's a miracle you didn't experience a spontaneous reboot.

Don't forget, the Replay was never designed with DVArchive's functionality in mind. It can stream or play very well, but stream AND play, well......not so much.

Especially if you have modified DVArchive's transfer rate to speed up the transfers.

Try streaming a show onto your computer while watching another recorder shows on that Replay while it is recording another show. Should last all of a few seconds before you get a reboot and/or smoke
