I ordered a 30ft HDMI cat 1 cable from monoprice, did I make a mistake?

Hi,

This is the cable:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...mat=4#feedback

But then I stared doing a little more reading and I ended up regretting the order but it was too late to cancel it.

The 25ft category 2 cable was around the same price but it has more bandwidth for a better picture, right (both are 22awg though)?

So should I go through the hassle of returning my order and getting the newer cable or will I be only wasting money because there really is no noticeable difference in the picture quality? Also, how future proof is the cable I ordered when compared to the cat2 1.3 ones?

Thank You

So that's like 20 people that viewed this thread so far and the question is basically in the subject title. Either most of you that clicked can't seem to help me out on this simple matter or you are only interested in being amused while reading about other people's concerns and questions, it's unfortunate if that's the case cause it says something about each of you. Maybe it's just me, this is the internet so it ought to be full of crappy people. I read a few articles here and there but I decided to ask on this popular forum anyway. I apologize to those who really can't help, as for the rest of youz, you suck!

(1) You might moderate your expectations about how fast people are going to respond to you; try longer than two hours...

(2) ...before posting a petulant followup that makes most people even less likely to help you.

(3) Since I have vowed to be less crappy today, I will direct you to the HDMI section of this forum where cable questions are common.

(4) Well, try it to be sure, but no you did not make a mistake.

1) Yup, can't argue with that.

2) I see, although being a jerk did get me a quick response from you though so I must have done something right.

3) Thank You

4) Thank You Again (and no need for the HDMI section now)

Goodbye Bill

Actually, you should return the Monoprice cable and go with Monster. Because you deserve the best, and only Monster can give you what you truly deserve.

I think sometimes people don't respond because, frankly, they really don't have an answer. But I completely agree with the previous poster. You get what you pay for and you obviously are properly concerned about the image quality you'll get. I would highly recommend that you go for a Monster cable. On their website, they'll explain why they get the widest possible bandwidth and will be suitable for the current HDMI 1.3 standard and for whatever HDMI upgrades occur in the foreseeable future. You can probably find the right one at your local Best Buy.

Nah... people don't respond because this question has been asked, answered and debated a million times.

Sometimes a "non response" can be better than an answer such as, "use the search tool".

"give you what you truly deserve"

Sorry guys, but I'll only buy from monoprice.

I can't wait to order more though, it's so cheap that I can even make a profit by selling the cheaply made cables myself! Oh, and I'll be sure to spread the word across the net on the quality of the cheap cables when I get my order.

If my very high expectations are not met then I'll have no choice but to try and expose the scam of monoprice. I'll still sell them for a profit though, no matter how crappy they might turn out to be. Thanks for the thoughtful advice anyways HawaiianHDaddict and boblinds but I got it figured out already, cheers!

flinster69 - actually, I was being facetious. (You can look that word up)

If you had any clue what you were talking about you would realize that Monoprice provides good products at excellent prices. Unlike Monster, which is ridiculously overpriced.

But you go ahead and "try and expose the scam of monoprice" I'm sure that will work out well for you. LOL

LOL, relax guy

Monoprice rules! I was just having a play with words cause your so called facetious response came across as a cheap attempt to ridicule or fool me into getting the crap that is monster. I do know some things here and there but seeing how I didn't exactly start out the thread on a friendly note I assumed that you along with that other guy was just being a douche so there you go.

Say if it says that the stuff got shipped on Friday last week and I used the three day service then why does the UPS site say it will arrive on Thursday?
Three days my arse.

Monoprice.com offers the following shipping methods:
UPS 3 Day Select - Takes 3 Business Day plus 1 days processing time

3. Shipping Terms.
monoprice.com will arrange payment for shipping with the carrier, but such costs are the responsibility of Customer. Risk of loss is upon Customer once monoprice.com delivers the Product to the carrier. Delivery times are estimates only and monoprice.com shall not be liable for delays.

Monoprice is a good and fair Company, If you want to take it in the shorts try Monster they can give you the best screw job of them all. Some where in the forum there's a test they gave to the different HDMI cables and Monster was behind Monoprice. You order from the right Company, if the cable is right or not thats a different question. The cable might fit and work in your system now, but about the growth of your system. You don't want to replace cables every time you up grade equipment. Hope it helps, Later

Yup, It does but I'll stick with the one I ordered. It should payoff for my needs for the time being.. might get a better one when I'll be able to afford a good super HD set in the future.

1.3 Device Compatible: Yes

You'll be fine.

Flin, I have a 15 ft monoproce cable plugged into my Panny Plasma and it works like a charm. I think most people that responded to you about buying Monster cables were trying to get a reaction out of you. Monster is wayyyyy overpriced and the Monoprice cables are very well made and also they have an excellent return policy.

it may be a rebranded telephone wire. only way to know for sure is to cut the cable and see. or, you could get an hdmi adaptor that has hdmi on on end and telephone jack (rj45) on the other and plug your phone into your tv. if you see the face of the person your calling, then it is indeed a phone cable.

Interesting, so did you see a face?

Monster Cable is like Bose. Better products through marketing.

Now MC has a $600 surge protector. Suckers will always buy it.
