Vista Media Center and Network Drives

All,
I have two dedicated Vista Media Center computers and a simple file server.
MC systems are running Vista Home Premium. Server is running XP pro. I can't seem to get Vista MC to "see" network drives. I have file sharing turned on with full control allowed for the VMC recording drives (E:\\). I have the shared drives mapped as network drives (X:\\ for example). I see the drives in "Computer" icon (or My Computer in XP) as you would expect. I see the programs in \\Recorded TV. I have full R/W/D control to the folders. I can open VMC recordings on them in "Computer" with VMC or WMP. They play fine. But when trying to add addition TV locations in MC, I only see the physical drives in that machine. Not the network drives. So if I want to watch a program in the living room that is recorded in the den I have to hook up a kb and mouse. It would be nicer to directly access the recordings in MC with the remote. So far I have been able to copy recordings and play them on the other systems as well. I understand there may be copy protection in some recordings that only allow them to play on the PC that recorded them. I haven't run into that yet. I have seen a few programs over the last year that showed that they were copy protected in the guide. Next time I see one, I'll test it.
Any help appreciated,

Hello Jim,
I made a link to a target on my living room PC as you suggested (called OtherRecordings). Nothing in windows seems to see it. MC doesn't see it -- but if I do "dir OtherRecordings" in a dos window it displays the files in the folder. So it did create the link. I used the /d switch as you suggest. Doesn't show up though as a variable so I don't know whether it "sticks" through a reboot. Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Terry

Ok. I found the link in Windows. It's ...\\Desktop\\Terry\\OtherRecordings. If I browse to it, the living room programs show up. Just as the do in "computer" or "network" folders. I've added it as a folder to watch in MC but the programs do not show up in "Recorded TV" in MC. Nevertheless-- progress. I'll mess with it some more tonight or tomorrow morning. Gotta go to work to support this habit (HTPC).
