Unless there is some serious money backing Auzentech up, I doubt they will survive selling Preludes in this economy for very long. Hell, there are many well known companies on the brink. Staff and office expense are huge expenses. The HDMI card is expensive and for the HTPC hobbyist market. I doubt many will be sold, and of those, quite a few of them will be by readers of this forum. If Asus has viable drivers out by Black Friday, well, they will have the market to themselves.
As an exercise, I believe this to be a scenario:
Auzentech is bankrupt; and Creative, feeling the recession, decides not to continue funding their struggling subsidiary. Every few months there is a further delay. The website updates are done solely for moving their remaining inventory.
Any other plausible scenarios?
I didn't say they were masters of the art of stringing prospective buyers along - nah, I didn't say that at all.
