My TX-SR876 just lost all audio output. All the other functions such as video switching works fine—including HDMI inputs. But there is no audio from any speaker nor the headphone jack. No audio on Zone 2 speakers either. I've tried using various analog audio inputs as well.
I ran a Debug sequence (hold Display & StandBy, then Tone+). It gives me:
Same with DSP 2nd and DSP 3rd. The last part of the Debug sequence yields the following which seems to indicate a problem with the DSP or MPU, or a problem with the interface between the two:
0303030 0 005
The guy at the local authorized service center said it was "probably the HDMI board because all audio passes through the HDMI board." (I am not an Onkyo certified technician, but I don't think that's correct. I am skeptical this is a kneejerk response given all the known issues with the bad caps on the HDMI boards. Indeed, I have personally repaired the HDMI board in my TX-SR606 when it lost it's HDMI functions.)
Can anyone offer a suggestion or experience with a similar problem? It would be much appreciated.
In 876 both audio and video processing is done on a single board. So thechnician was correct both DSPs are on the same board with video and HDMI processors.
