Maybe this isn't new to most of you with Panasonic HDD DVD recorders, but I just discovered it last evening, and I was both pleased and surprised by it. This might be documented in the manual, I haven't checked, but it works with mg EH50 and EH75.

As I have said previously, I am in the process of transferring many video tapes to DVD. This is a long and on-going process. When I copy over a full VHS tape, especially one with episodes of a series on it, The recording creates a long title with the episodes imbedded in it. I go into this long title and put chapter marks between episodes. I then use the playlist feature to make each episode its own playlist entry, and then select thumbnails and title the playlists. When I make the DVDs, I use advanced copy, creating a copylist to HS copy the playlists to a disk. The playlist titles show up in the copylist, in the order I want them on the disk. (Yeah, I know, this is getting tedious.) This is all standard stuff.

Well, after I make a disk, when I reenter advanced copy for the next disk, the previous titles are still in the copy list, presumably to allow me to make a second copy of that content. I usually just select delete all, to clear the copy list and select the new playlist titles for the next DVD. Well, what I discovered is, if you highlight a title from the "old" copylist and press enter, it puts you at that title in the playlist page. You can then just press the move right button a time or two to get to the next title you want to copy THIS time, and that new selection appears on the copylist overwriting the one on the "old" copylist. This puts the new title in the position of the old one.

Was that clear, or very confusing?

Believe it or not, this is a nice feature. It might not sound like much, but it saves a lot of meandering around pages of playlist entries when building a copylist. I wish I had known about this sooner.
