Sounds interesting! I was reading the reviews on IMDB and it seems like a nice change.

Pontypool is just so odd and original. Nothing like it, not really.

Busy last few days but was still able to work in quite a few viewings.

The Day 2011 - 2 1/2 Zombies - FIRST VIEW
I had a to out of town for business but was still able to get a movie in on the hotel pay per view - and the company paid for it. HA! tongue.gif
The movie I chose was The Day. I like apacolyptic stuff and, for a limited budget, this was decent. Fairly harsh and bleak with a bit of a different twist on the Zombie apocolypse theme. Instead of Zombies the world is stuck between humans starving for food and those that have decided to be cannibals and hunt the remaining humans for their food source. The cannibals are not completely deranged so was different to have them conversing with the humans they were hoping to catch and eat.

Nosferatu 1922! - 3 Zombies for originality - FIRST VIEW
The classic. The original. Made before the talkies. smile.gif
The Nosferatu creature stills always looked creepy so I finally took the time to check out the movie. Pretty creepy vibe to parts of this. Other parts, the campy overacting style of the time came off a little hokey to me, but hey it was 1922! biggrin.gif

American Werewolf in London - 1981 3 1/2 Zombies
Another 80's classic that I have not sat down for the whole thing since it came out and did not have a lot of anticipation for since it seems a little played over the years. I have to say I really enjoyed it. David Naughton had a Robert Downey vibe going and the classy Jenny Agutter really made the flic for me.

The Loved Ones 2009 4 Zombies - FIRST VIEW
I am not totally into the capture, torture, escape porn genre. But I did enjoy this. At first I was, Uh oh, one of these. But they did a good job of not lingering too long on the various injustices as that tends to get a bit tedious for me. The peepee scene had me laughing and cringing at the same time. Really well done. Way to go Aussies!

TEETH 2007 - 3 Neutered Zombies
Speaking of laughing and cringing simultaneously. 2nd time viewing of this and the tone is just perfect for the subject matter. What a crack up, yet played straight and very well acted by the cast. The doctor scene is a little over the top and the rhyme the doctor yells will stick in my head for days. biggrin.gif:eek:

1- Jeepers Creepers - 2001 - 3 1/2 Zombies
2 - Area 407 - 2012 - 1 Zombie that has no legs or arms
3- Halloween - 1978 - 4 Zombies
4- The Day - 2011 - 2 1/2 Zombies
5- Nosferatu - 1922!- 3 Old School Zombies
6- American Werewolf in London - 1981 - 3 1/2 Zombies
7- The Loved Ones - 2009 - 4 Zombies
8- TEETH - 2007- 3 Neutered Zombies

Creature feature FTW!smile.gif

I watched this last year as well and it has been a long time 80's favorite (hence my "send.more.paramedics"). Just a downright fun zombie movie with some great sfx for its time, a must see for any zombie lover!

Love this. Just got the bluray and saving for just the right time to slip in the mix. Funny how this has bled over to mainstream and even my seven year old thinks of all Zombies as just saying BRAINS!! Learned it from friends at school...I tried to explain that it was limited to ROTLD Zombies, and not Romero Zombies, and not fast Zombies, that said this. What they teach in schools these days...eek.gifrolleyes.gif

I never saw the original but I really enjoyed this movie. Timothy Olyphant is just so animated and fun to watch. Not too gory, lot of jump scares but good pacing and an entertaining little zombie flick. I do have soem gripes but I'll leave them out since I've voiced them before.

The first 2/3's of this is awesome and killer audio in this as well.

I have streaming access to Netflix and Amazon Prime videos, also Netflix disc plan if it's something I should put in the queue for later.

Not to mention there's some funny stuff about small town radio stations in it too.

I had to go read a plot synopsis and see a few photo stills before this came back to me. We watched this last year I believe and if I recall correctly, it was pretty good. Thanks for the suggestion, you are on the right track. smile.gif

Pretty good. Not a lot of gore and really just an old fashioned ghost story. Great effects as well.

Not as over the top as the Tokyo gore police movie, subtle, but still cringe worthy, especially for us guys!

Yay Boogeyman! Can't wait to see pics of it.

Before I watch my next movie I just wanted to say I am now a proud father!

My wife does family photography and thought this would be funny.

If you like your 80's slashers with extra cheese track down The Mutilator. Ridiculous music, horrible acting and some cool kills. The gaffe shot is top notch! Good movie with beer or a crowd. 3.5 Zombies. This is one of the best horror posters from the 80's:

Today took in some Sleepaway Camp 2. Meh. What makes part 1 so great is the two main characters. The Angela in this one is second rate & the gore isn't impressive either. Average entry in the Summer Camp Slashers sub-genre. If you like boobs there's one blonde that just can't seem to keep her shirt on throughout the movie. 2 Zombies

Ah bummer. Redbox might be carrying it if you get desperate later on in the month.

Watched another movie today, still one behind, doubtful if i can ever catch up, will probably drop back a little more by the end of this month, but i am doing the best i can.

Watched: SHOGUN THE JOY OF TORTURE

This is a FIRST TIME WATCH FOR ME.

Here is a little review i found online and it pretty much says it all, i would add that its not the most realistic torture like Hostel and more modern movies, but if you can handle the old-style stuff, its a wild movie:

Set in the Tokugawa (or Edo) period, the first in Teruo Ishii's Joys of Torture series opens with a montage portraying a succession of women being decapitated, burnt alive at the stake, and torn in two by oxen. The film then adopts a portmanteau approach of three short stories which all culminate in lengthy torture sessions.

In the first, a girl is tortured after an incestuous relationship with her brother and suspended upside-down with her head immersed in the sea until she drowns. Secondly, sexual shenanigans at a nunnery lead to fun with a bathtub of leeches, chili peppers applied between the legs, branding, and multiple crucifixions. In the final and most substantial of the three stories, a sadistic torturer criticises the work of a tattoo artist who has attempted to portray the expression of woman in pain. For the artist's next masterpiece, the torturer offers to demonstrate what this expression really looks like by allowing him to sketch a selection of Europeans accused of entering Japan with the aim of spreading christianity. In the end it is the face of the torturer that ends up being portrayed in the resulting tattoo.

If you like torture movies, you should watch this. As you know, i do like this genre, and i am giving this a 3-zombie rating although i wish the scenes were more realistic like modern movies, but thats so frequently a complaint of mine, i have to get over it.

MOVIES WATCHED OCTOBER 2012:

01- The Butcher - 3 Zombies
02- Zombie Diaries 2 (World of the Dead) - 1/2 Zombie
03- Inferno of Torture - 1-1/2 Zombies
04- The Woman - 3 Zombies
05- Zombie - 2-3/4 Zombies
06- Dead Hooker In A Trunk - 1/2 Zombies
07- Shogun Joy Of Torture - 3 Zombies

29- Dark Country. Noir-ish in style, Twilight Zone in story. Exceptional mind twisting road movie. HBO Go
30- Outpost. A spin on zombie Nazis. I enjoyed it. Nothing too shocking but still a solid movie.Crackle
31- Orphan. Creepy kid movies mean something totally different when you have kids much like The Road becoming even more harrowing.
32- Insidious. I really like this movie but have problems with how they wrap it up. I enjoy the throwbacks to Poltergeist and The Entity. It spooked me a couple of times so it's a favorite now. Netflix Instant

Triangle fans should like Dark Country and many here should like Outpost. Also, 32 movies in 8 days.

32 - Holy Cow!

I caught a couple last night and both very enjoyable.

Black Christmas (or Black Xmas on my DVD cover) 2006
I guess this was something of a re-make as it had many similarities to the 1974 original. I probably would not have watched this if it had not been for this October, 31 day event. Alot of teeny bopper type girls in this and I would have pegged it as a lame, teen slasher flic. At times it was, but also had some brutal themes and violence - Yay! This seemed like an 80's type, pre-politically correct movie and did not "feel" like it was made in 2006. 3 1/2 Zombies for it's brutal themes!

Touristas - 2006
Coincidentally, I viewed this right after Black Christmas. Both made in 2006, but this one seemed more modern and not as darkly themed. Still, had an excellent cast and really well done. Melissa George, Olivia Wilde and the soldier guy from the Transformers movies who looked alot like Tim Olyphant in this movie. Melissa George really looks good in a bikini and very appealing cast and location shots. All were very believable in their roles, and really gave a sense of young adults on vacation when things go wrong and they realize they are a long way from home. This was a satisfying movie with everything moving along the way it should with appropriate setup, tension and kills. The collateral damage was exactly as hoped for so a nice positive ending - excellent movie. 3 1/2 Zombies

9- Black Christmas - 2006 - 3 80's throwback Zombies
10- Touristas - 2006 - 3 1/2 Zombies in Bikinis
