October fun: 31 days of Horror, Blood, Guts and Gore! (and zombies, too....) - Page 141

^Dude, you always get the babes....tongue.gif

Last night I watched The Wisdom of Crocodiles:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120894/

For some reason, this movie never showed up on my radar.

This is good old-school Vamp melodrama.
A slow burn, with lots of unexpected twists and turns.

This is a cerebral vampire flick, which may not appeal to everyone here.
I enjoy the newer CGI blood-sucker stuff too, but this was a nice change of pace.
No CGI, not much blood....like I said, old school.cool.gif

Jude Law is excellent here.

RECOMMENDED.

in the bar later (ignore the goober on the let)

Screen print also signed by the directors

And then got Michael Rooker to sign the birthday card my wife made me back in November. He remembered it and said it was the sh*t! He’ll always be Henry to me though

Damn, that rawks man! Awesome!

Yes, if you like the old school TR games get it. It has a great blend of old TR and horror. Even the scene where she falls in the pool of blood and slowly rises half her head out to look around was copied in the game. I'm only half way through it so far but really enjoyed it and found it to be a nice break from COD.

For some reason, there is a bit of confusion about the title.
NF lists it as "Immortality" and IMDB calls it "The Wisdom of Crococdiles....."confused.gif
I dunno what that is about, but the one with JL is the one I watched.smile.gif

Wiz, I'm just guessing you've got blackmail on her because no way would something like that get that close to mere mortals. biggrin.gif

How else are going to keep them honest though? Nothing wrong with a friendly reminder that they aren't the only game in town. biggrin.gif

Hot dang! This greatly changes my perception of what happens at these things. smile.gif

Nice job! Do you put your car keys in a big glass bowl when you walk in? biggrin.gif (JK)

I crack up every time I see that Michael Rooker birthday card of yours. smile.gif

Just saw Slither for the first time last week and Rooker has a very Rookeresque role and was reading the imdb board about it and many folks were commenting how much they like him and if he could just get that one good role that brings him to mainstream consciousness...

Some Evil Dead reviews are coming in. Sounds like it's hitting all the notes I need it to hit.

movies like this need to be smarter in a post-Cabin in the Woods world.

I for one did NOT think CITW was all that. Certainly enjoyable but easily eclipsed.

+1 It was okay but the cheese factor was just too heavy (in a bad way) at the very end. The best part of the movie was when all the creatures were running a muck.

I agree with the bold and I kindly remind uber fans of Joss Whedon to remember that he wrote the craptastic (imo) Alien Resurrection. Thankfully Joss has done some good things in film since then.biggrin.gif

All he's done that I really like is Firefly. Avengers was fun but not a repeat viewer for me. I do want a Hulk movie form him though.

I agree Firefly is great! And the only reason I mentioned Alien Resurrection was I watched it for the first time on BD this past weekend, ridiculous (in a bad way) is the word I describe that movie. The Avengers was alright, but I enjoyed it more after a 2nd viewing, the wife hated it but she likes the Iron Man films better.

SO glad he didn't get Star Wars. Yet anyway.

We've had enough cornball ideas fueling SW in the last trilogy so although I loved Avengers and Firefly/Serenity I too am glad SW went to JJ.

JJ did great with the Star Trek reboot so giving him a chance with SW was a no brainer imo.

I think either would do a great job but JJ seems like the safer pick to me for some reason. JJ's natural tone seems to match a more "wholesome" Disney approach where Whedon might be a little unpredictable since he seems to favor the snarky dialogue between characters - which I like.

I like that dialogue as well but with the terrible out of place writing (especially between Padme and Wanakin) I'm ready for a more serious tone (ROTS is excluded from that of course wink.gif)

That said I also think JJ was a better bet given his work on ST and how well he weaved in elements of classic characters in a revisioning. I think JJ's appreciation for the things that made the OT SW special (i.e. core group of charismatic characters viewers connect and grow with through each release) is a key element needed for the next chapter in SW, and oddly enough on that was absent from the PT.

Agree, Super 8 was all I needed to see he understands. His stuff fits right in my view. Super 8 is the only movie that gets anywhere near E.T., Goonies, or Explorers for me.
