I've recently become a fan of Aussie director Nash Edgerton. His shorts are amazing! The twists will blow your mind. This one is by far my favorite so far.
I think the Aussie's have some solid talent in the horror world, they've put out some titles I've really enjoyed in the past: The Loved Ones, Wolf Creek, Storm Warning, etc. Lake Mungo wasn't a personal favorite but it was mostly well received here.

Agreed. I've seen several Aussie flicks across many genres that are quite good.
The Goddess of 1967 is one of my faves from down under.

Sweet, I'll be watching The Collection for sure this weekend. Also speaking of Aussie flicks, this one flew under my radar but may be worth a look. Not sure it would be considered horror but close enough.
A Darwinian horror movie, Van Diemen’s Land tells the true story of cannibal convict Alexander Pearce and his fight for survival in the Tasmanian wilderness.
Chillingly portrayed by Oscar Redding, the infamous convict is presented as a quiet man with a keen intellect and a taste for human flesh, the horror of this all too real piece of Australian history beautifully clashing with Ellery Ryan’s stunning photography, and Jonathan auf der Heide’s precision direction.
I don't see it for rent anywhere and looks like the only bluray release is from Finland (B locked). I see a DVD copy on the amazon market place for $28:eek: but is is Region 4.
I can't believe you guys are talking about Aussie horror/sploitation. I've had an unopened Netflix envelope of Wake in Fright sitting on my shelf for weeks. Been waiting until my wife isn't around to watch it because of the kangaroo shenanigans. Looks nutso! Hopefully this weekend...

Reminder: The Collection is out next Tues! I haven't read any reviews and don't intend to but I will be checking it out and giving y'all the skinny
Should be entertaining considering how solid the first one is. Looking forward to it.

I did too. It was good and definitely looks to get better. Got the series set to record on the DVR now.

All very well done. Lake Mungo was a big surprise to me in the challenge a couple of years ago. Wasn't expecting much (probably because of the lame title) but I ended up really enjoying it. Creepy as hell.

When Mia Wallace rises up from the restroom counter exclaiming " I said Goddamn, Goddamn" in Pulp Fiction. Warning: Spoiler!(Click to show)
That is American Mary. Easily equal to The Loved Ones and Excision. I actually prefer American Mary over those films which I really loved. Katharine Isabell is perfect as Mary. This movie is sexy and crazy as all hell in nearly every way. It has comedy so some of you will hate it but it's deadpan and in all the right places. Every main character is likeable in their own, sometimes weird, way. I cared for them and wanted more. Many things are left to your imagination and there are plot holes, which some here cannot stand, I thought that stuff was just fine. As enjoyable as Girls Against Boys was American Mary cuts it to pieces. I've got a feeling the core people here in the thread will really enjoy this one.
My only problem was that I didn't wait until to October to see this.
Les Mis is on the list behind This is 40. I gots to get my Paul Rudd/Leslie Mann on.
Nice! Les Mis was pretty good, I did not know Ann Hathaway could sing and sing pretty good! Also have some tissues for your s/o because the movie made my wife cry.

I cry too. When the dad says AVENGE ME in Red Dawn, it gets me every time.
I Am Sam. Marley and Me. Both are on the Banned In my House List.
I am Sam is really good and effective at pulling the water works. I have never seen Marly and Me, but if it is anything like I am Legend (dog scene) that movie will never get seen lol.
Sorry for the OT guys! Anyhoo, The Descent is on IFC right now.

Once is all you need.
Honestly when I watch a lot of movies I get weepy. Especially while alone. The Road is absolutely harrowing for me after becoming a father.
