I dont worry about packaging though on dvds as i take them out and throw the boxes away as i now keep my dvds in those albums that are made for them.

Excellent! Yes, I think a double feature will be in order then.smile.gif

Picked up my Steelbook Evil Dead today. Target didn't even have them out, I had to hassle someone to go back and dig it out of a box. Anyone care to guess which shelf is dedicated to horror films? wink.gif

I will see this movie this weekend!

...After watching Evil Dead yesterday, I must say the second time was almost better! With that said, I have a question about the cast, more precisely the main character. Spoiler tags just in case...
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
the film's main character Mia is played (wonderfully) by Jane Levy... There's aso actress Randal Wilson, credited as "Abomination Mia". Which is where I'm getting a bit confused... Abomination Mia is in other words "possessed Mia" right? So I assume(d) Jane Levy plays both parts. The Abomination is seen briefly during the film (during the tree scene) and of course at the end; these two moments involve both Mia *and* the Abomination, so it's fair to assume Randal Wilson was indeed opposite Jane Levy... With that said, "Abomination Mia" the rest of the time isn't supposed to be played by Jane Levy? Except for a skinnier body, Wilson does share some resemblance with Levy (at least with makeup etc), hence my confusion...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1288558/?ref_=sr_1

I haven't watched the extras yet, maybe there are answers there that I'm not aware of at the moment smile.gif

Some scenes you can obviously tell it's her, others, such as the end not so much. I'd say body double at least for the bits where both are in the same frame but just a guess.

Speaking of Evil Dead holy crap what an incredible transfer! The AQ and PQ were absolutely reference but I was mostly surprised with the audio track. It's not often that a horror film really knocks your socks off with an immersive audio track that is also rendered with such hyper detail and utilizes the frequency spectrum and surrounds so effectively. 4.5 blood soaked possessed meat zombies.

Not sure if anyone else that watched Evil Dead saw this trailer last night... looks somewhat mild but I love psychological horror, which is what it claims to be. 6.2% on imdb, 3.5 stars on NF, and 75% on RT. Could go either way but I'll probably give it a go.

Excellent, looking forward to this.

LOL! I need to catch up with the thread ranking system biggrin.gif

...As for ED's PQ/AQ, this is a reference quality all around imo, yet another excellent release from Sony.

I warned my wife yesterday that the opening sequence was going to put her in the mood for the whole movie - sadly she gave up after they discovered the book...That's too bad I thought she was going to make it wink.gif ...My daughter (12) wants to watch it, which I'm not very comfortable with, but she's too scared by it right now, the trailer was enough for her. But of course she's intrigued... "Leave this movie alone!" tongue.gif

I thought that trailer said Magic Mike for a second. Ha! That looks great. Go Michael Cera!
This will be great to add in to regular October rotation. It's also one of those films that reminds you why you've invested $$ into a nice HD HT.

Yes. Go Michael Cera. Please. Go.

I think I will wait for the rainiest, scariest night October has to offer, open the windows for full effect and curl up under a blanket with a sixer to watch this.

It's a tricky thing to do right.
The verbs have to be descriptive enough to relate to the movie itself without being spoilerish.
It takes a man of letters to get it right (of course, this excludes you immediately tongue.gif).

Hey guys, I've been away too long!

Notable Blu Ray acquisitions of late...

The Lost Boys triple feature (3 movie set)
Mad Max & The Road Warrior (not really horror, but post-apocalyptic violence is still cool!)
Plan 9 from Outer Space (couldn't help myself)
Haunted World of El Superbeasto (horror/action cartoon for immature adults)
Poltergeist (1 & 2) (refused to put up good money for the third one)
Enter the Void (not strictly horror, but it's the same guy who made "Irreversible" for crying out loud!)
Stakeland (it's about time, huh?)
Battle Royale: The Complete Collection (finally!)

And some great used DVDs that were so cheap I couldn't pass them up...

Jeepers Creepers (coulda sworn I already owned this but didn't!)
The Witches (STILL unavailable in widescreen, grrr)
Dead Snow (what a blast this movie is, huh!)
The House with Laughing Windows (good ole 70's giallo)
The Outer Limits Volume 1 & 2
The Veil - Special Edition (I love Boris Karloff in any incarnation, even hokey old television)

I am also continuing to round out my MGM Midnite Movies collection, god help me. At a certain point I realized I had more than 75% of them anyway so now I am trying to get them all, horror or not. Recent horror pick-ups include Donovan's Brain, I Bury The Living, and The Island of Dr. Moreau (1977 version). Most of these are obscenely cheap (I've bought many for under $5, and none of them as brand new) so I don't feel too guilty (although "Alien from L.A." was pretty hard to stomach at any price!) Just 7 more titles to go!

Enter The Void is great.

Where are you getting your Midnite discs at?

I saw Enter the Void well over a year ago and it still haunts my memories...talk about movies that take your mind to a different place! I'll be interested to see how a second viewing goes. And how about that opening credit sequence?! Seizure-inducing!

I've acquired almost all of my MGM Midnite Movie discs at my local used DVD and record stores (Eide's, The Exchange, CD Warehouse, etc). It seems there's a few hard-to-find titles (Reptilicus, The Wild Angels, The Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow), but used copies are available on Amazon, just not as cheap as I'd like, for now.

Ok I couldn't wait to watch The Evil Dead this weekend so I got it on RB today and going to watch it tonight!

Edit: A friend told me about Enter the Void. He said I would like the electronic music and all the visuals on that movie.

Our prayers will be answered:

Watched tonite for the 1st time and had more fun with this movie than any other this year....even the wife loved it.eek.gif

It's one of those movies that DOESN'T require Mystery Science Theater to be great...no external commentary is needed.
It is...for lack of better words: damn near PERFECT.

We couldn't stop laughing.....it's really that good.cool.gif
It is highly appropriate for those times where you want to throw in the towel and give up on Hollywood.

My recommendation: grab several bottles of adult beverages and just let Sharknado work its magic...and the world will become a better place.wink.gif

Evil Dead was fantastic last night! Probably one of the best remake/reboot I have seen! PQ and SQ was pretty good and the practical/cgi effects were seamless! 4.5 basement dwelling bloodied Zombies!

Good to hear. I'll probably watch it today. Stupid ear infection has me laid up. I feel like I'm about to start peeling parts off like Goldblum in The Fly.

Lol! I absolutely hate when my ear bugs me, because you cannot see what is going on in there!

My only 'bad' thing last night was my daughter decides to scream her head off when she heard the movie downstairs. She has never done this before so I couldn't play it at a nice volume. Still though even with the volume/night mode on the SQ was fantastic! I will definitely buy this movie!

Sweet movie collection, Kenobi, by the way. Do you happen to track them online? It would cool if we could view each other's collections.

For anyone interested in viewing my movie collection, check out this link:

Horror is the most common genre, but there's other stuff in there: sci-fi, adventure, noir, foreign, etc. If some movies don't seem to fit in, those are probably the ones that belong to my wife or kids...

All of my movies are tracked as well through DVD profiler. We should definitely share our lists. Good idea!

Wow, that's awesome! Would love to get mine into something like this to be shareable. I guess I could ask the NSA for a copy?

Well at 2am when it ruptured you could see what was going on. Sucks balls.

Also. Fourty three minutes into Evil Dead. Son of a birch what an intense melon farming piece of work.
