wiz, all our best buddy. So sorry to hear you are on such a roller coaster with this. It sounds like you are keeping your chin up as much as anyone could. Love the chair! Really hope you start making some progress man frown.gif

darth - I remember The Apparition and like you said it had some interesting ideas but didn't really do it for me. I'll probably start saving any horror for October at this point. We are kicking off in 48 days folks!

Yep, me too. As a physical media dinosaur I have to put a little time in to having the discs at hand and this year I am making more of an effort to target particular movies. Last year I relied on the library, Blockbuster and some newly purchased discs. This year I am hoping to be a little more discriminating and planning my coordination of NF, Redbox, Library and catalog. Probably putting more effort and time into this than Wizz's doctors...wink.gif

I tried to stay up and watch this last night but crashed out early. I did record it and I might save it for Oct.

Hey Wizzack, sorry to hear that you need to see another dr/treatment to get over this illness. Seems like you are in good spirits though and I like that HT chair! Take care buddy!

I crashed too... made it to about the first gas attendant getting smashed. That is a fun movie though.

Anone see this:

Seen all but Trouble Everyday and The Wizard of Gore. Off to Netflix. Netflix has them both and a 2007 remake of Wizard with Crispin Glover.

Wow, I can never keep up with this thread. I have been meaning to chime in about The Conjuring which the wife and I saw a few weeks ago in the theater. I have to say this was the most fun I have had at a movie in a long time. It probably helped that my wife was actually interested in the film rather than me dragging her to see something only I cared about. I thought it was very well done and held our attention from beginning to end. Sure, it had a few holes in it but as far as horror movies go I thought it was one of the better ones I have ever seen. The atmosphere and look of if was just great and the scares were in all the right places. Not too much CGI and it was easy to be sympathetic towards the characters which were well acted in most cases. I will certainly watch this again when it's released on Bluray.

Agreed! And my wife doesn't really warm up to horror films but she actually liked the Conjuring. I actually had a good time at the theater seeing this and the SQ was pretty good!

Agreed, it's nice to see this film getting unanimous praise here. Some guy in the Evil Dead bluray thread was complaining about it but honestly I can't understand why a genre fan would not like it. Seems to break the mold of all the rinse and repeat ghost story/possession flicks saturating the market and gave fans something worth digging in for the ride.

Both the Hatchet movies got pretty bad reviews but I haven't seen them so added both for kicks. Hellbound is easily the best of the Hellraiser films IMO. Trouble Every Day I added to the list along with Wizard of Gore and Videodrome, none of which I have seen. As far as 70's horror goes I think Suspiria and TCM are my favorites.

Anyone thinking of going region free this Halloween please let me know. I'd be happy to do some movie swaps. I have on bluray: Inbred, Attack of the Werewolves, Suspiria, The Loved Ones, and The Silent House.

Oh, I have only seen Suspiria once but really enjoyed it. Thanks for the reminder as I will have to get this in the rotation for October.

I haven't entirely finished it yet but I do like Brandon Cronenberg's "Antiviral" which is available on Netflix WI and at Redbox. It's like a commentary on movie piracy extended to the idea of people so into celebrities that they feel closer to them if they can experience a disease virus from them. And of course there is a storyline about people selling pirated copies of virus because they broken the copy protection on the virus. Weird stuff and Brandon is carrying on the family tradition of great filmmaking.

.

I know here at AVS people can get really critical with film genres (eg Sci-Fi films) but complaining about gore/ghost scares/haunted houses/psycho maniacs/slimy creatures etc, in Horror movies is like complaining about eating In-N-Out 4X4's cheeseburgers and then complaining that you're gaining weight. The Horror genre is pretty much 'honest' in that what you experience is, well Horror.

Probably the most honest left.

That Italian cooking short was pretty crazy! Food Network Horror channel FTW!

I also forgot that link that Kenobi put up is pretty spot on! Those two 70's films by that Herschell dude look like a splatter fest!

Tried it the other night.

Definitely a chip off the old block (meaning it's either gold or shite).
In this instance, it's the later.

After a 1/2 hour, I couldn't care less about the characters or story and dumped it.

Weird for the sake of weird is NOT good IMO.wink.gif

Read about a movie called Found and the trailer looked pretty cool. If anyone's seen it, I'd be interested to know what you think. I plan to check it out soon.
