October fun: 31 days of Horror, Blood, Guts and Gore! (and zombies, too....) - Page 210

Somehow, Lords of Salem showed up from Netflix. I could not wait for October so checked it out last night.

This movie seems to have it all. Great cast of older character actors including KEN FOREE. Great audio, and the sets are convincing and creepy. For any that have seen this, the opening scene with the witches - who wasn't turned on, at least a bit?tongue.gifwink.gif

Somewhere though, it just didn't impact me. Sheri Zombie was much better here. (will refer to her as Moon from now on, if you see the movie...) Usually, I find her really annoying. She was much better, but not sure if it was her or the writing, but I really did not care too much what was happening to her or could happen. Tragedy or triumph - meh. Normally, I have a certain reaction when the movie ends like this one but it was, eh whatever. Still, I think RZ did a great job with all the other aspects of the film, just the writing was not very convincing. The pacing was fine and seemed a bit like HOTD and Rosemary's Baby but the writing for the girl, and the girl herself in hotd, was much more appealing than MOON. I really cared what happened to that girl. Moon, not so much. Meg Foster was awesome though as the old witch. A little to cartoony at times but really looked the part and I would rate her a solid 5 for CILF (C stands for creature, and the rest is like MILF tongue.gifeek.gifwink.gif)

Still, I give it 3 emotionless Zombies.

With everyone watching it pre-October, how the hell are we supposed to organize our Lords of Salem night? biggrin.gif

I'm in Jerry!

Will be a little harder for those that don't buy to make sure they have the rental, but I will give it a shot and sounds fun!

Sid Haigs part WAS CUT OUT of the movie. First time in 50+ years he did not make the cut. WTF?

3 zombies is a good number for me and there are a lot of interesting things to this movie - imo. I enjoyed the watch, just did not really connect with the main character to really care. But, to me, the whole movie was about her fate. Others may be affected differently.

Not horror but "Only God Forgives" is a pretty gory thriller with Ryan Gosling and Kristen Scott Thomas written and directed by Nicolas Winding Refn ("Drive"). I watched it on Amazon Instant last night. It is "still in theaters" (probably one buckers). Refn dedicates the film to Alejandro Jodorowsky and it clearly shows that influence. Four chopped arms.

A little later I ran the first half hour of "Lizzie" on NF and it is shaping up to be pretty good. BTW, don't fret October as it looks like the marketing departments of studios are supporting your endeavor.

I give that Perseveration the dafuq award too, but I guess the title of the movie says it all, repetition of a response, without a reason to respond. If that makes any sense lol.

I am down for the Conjuring night, dunno if I can get Lords of Salem on RB.

Happy Holiday ya'lls! I celebrated with a reuben for lunch. I'm embarrassed to say I never realized there is an actual Crystal Lake hiding beyond one of the roads. In 13 years we never knew it was here. *facepalm*

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I agree with Cabo on Lords. I'm giving a second watch in October if you all still do a night. Down with The Conjuring too. Second Brian Conrad with Only God Forgives. I suggested it a few pages back for the same reasons.

Ok guys, who is taking the plunge and getting World War Z next week?

I forgot to mention late thursday night and into early friday, Sci-Fi had some episodes of Friday the 13th tv series back to back. I was wondering if there are any fans of that series here?

I never saw World War Z in the theaters, havent been watching movies either in the theater or on tv for various reasons, but it looked good enough for October that i ordered it from Amazon, should be here soon. Wow, i will have around 15 movies waiting for October!! I will watch all the new ones first, then finish the month with great favorites that we all have seen and love.

OCTOBER IS ALMOST HERE!!!!!

More like the ghost of Lizzie Borden or one of her victims takes over a young woman in a modern day setting. There is some good background on the Borden story at the beginning. I haven't finished it yet because I rented "Lords of Salem" at Redbox and watched it. Three and a half witches.

Cool there are others that are going to watch WWZ. I might hold off for Oct just to have something new to watch for Oct. I just have reservations because of the PG13 rating, but what the heck it is zombies so how bad can it be.

Lol Steve trying to,get the wife out of the house using football! I also like your avatar of the Audi race cars! I saw them race a few years back at Laguna Seca, those things are quick but one of the quietest race cars out there.

Don't think the football ploy will work, going to have to listen about her fight with her sister, talk about horror fest. :-(.The Audi's are bad ass cars.Seen them at Sebring and Road Atlanta a couple times.
Lol, sisters fighting, that sucks and hopefully things will calm down for you tonight.

Road Atlanta was my first track session, this was before the turn 12 iirc modification. I was in a slow car anyhow but that track is awesome!

What is everyone watching tonight? Me the classic Jaws!
