Can you give me a rough estimate?

I suggested a pair of these to THE BOSS this morning.
Her response: "the cats would tear them up."rolleyes.gif

My wife asked for a Dyson vacuum. I've no chance at defeating the WAF with that.

Sounds like you just got some ammo to get rid of some cats! wink.gif

I think I would opt to re-buy the same $75 Bison each year for the next 5 years and still have $$ left over vs. a Dyson.

FWIW, Consumer Reports doesn't think much of Dyson when comparing to other brands.

It's like the Bose of vacuum cleaners, it's not bad but you can do better for less with a less popular name.

I don't have enough life left in my bones to deprogram the Real Housewives out of her.

.
I just saw one go through auction for $8400, and after fees and importation it came out to roughly $12400 shipped from Japan. Now the big question is can the paper work be trusted enough to warrant a blind buy. That is kinda the questions I am asking and hopefully people aren't getting rust buckets that turn into severe money pits.

On the vacuums, I agree dyson are bit much and I have gotten a sweet deal on one at Costco back in 05. It still runs great but I wouldn't buy one at MSRP that is for sure. The most expensive vacuum cleaners I have seen sold were Miele vacuums, those are 4-6 times what I paid for mine and they still use disposable bags. Just like cars you need to test drive those bad boys at home to see if they are worth it.

Edit: oh yeah Darth my wife wanted one too for the house we bought back in 2005, but she used the 1% back from Costco along with a coupon that made the vacuum relatively cheap.

FYI, you might want to check because some of these films have fallen into PD and may wind up on Archive.org though a casual search didn't list it. Thanks to Disney and their Dumb Movie Crimemaker Act films can't technically be PD unless they are "really old". But then some rights holders don't care and in some case no one is even claiming rights anymore. And filing a take down notice can too much work for some rights holders. That law created a very bad ambiguous grey area. It needs to be rescinded.

That is a bit too much lol and it is a beauty but I cannot legally drive that car around on US streets, the track is another story. We have to wait till the R34's are 25 years old to legally import those cars and drive them. I would rather buy a stock one, build it to my specs and then pay cash for my home in Hawaii for that kind of money. I guess what is the bad side of the F&F (which I like) is that demand for certain cars used in the movie have skyrocketed. I was into these cars well before the first movie but I wasn't in a position to buy one then.

Ha, my wife wanted Bose for the family room and Dyson for the vac. I said no to the Bose and gave her the Dyson. Gotta pick your battles...biggrin.gif

Thankfully I went through the Bosegate years ago. I told my wife how much I spent in the late 90's on a LifeStyle 40 system and how it sounded really bad. But my towers were in storage for a number of years till I had a place that they would fit in.

My wife has a slight thing about cleaning so I and the dogs have learned to stay away.

Well played, at least your ears wont cry when she uses the Dyson. I was chatting with some guy in the Verizon store recently trying to sell me on the Bose bluetooth speaker. I was like nah... I think I'll keep my UE Boom that is water resistant, highly portable, and can be paired with another for stereo sound. Even if I had 2 UE Boom's it would cost less rolleyes.gif

I think it's her way of getting space. The hum of the vacuum must lull her into a meditative state.

My wife has a thing for nagging,it gives her plenty of space when the kids, dogs and myself clear out. =-O

You're getting off cheap anything built better than a Dyson will cost you a lot more. Miele, Kirby, and of course Oreck's. If you really wan't to know about vac's skip Consumer Reports and talk to to people in retail who vacuum almost every day, eye opening.

Cats would love these as In you would never get them back from them.

How about 365 days of Zombies, Blood, Guts, and Horror? or It's always October 31st in here biggrin.gif

I really don't want to know more about vacuums. I've bought half a dozen in 15 years. They all start strong and then start sucking. I think a Roomba would knock it out of the park due to it running everyday doing light duty.

Anybody see any new movies yet? I watched Elysium yesterday and Ralph was right, luke warm at best. I did like the concept of the film (the haves and the have nots) and I liked the effects used in the film, but the movie seemed rushed.

Nothing too ground breaking, Chasing Mavericks is pretty awesome and I started Gallowwalkers. It's a bit slow but seems well designed and a different take on westerns with some great costumes and makeup. Feels like it needs a dash of Sukiyaki Western Django in it. Snipes can play a badass but this one might be too quiet. He should channel Simon Phoenix a little more.

I need to see that Snipes film and who doesn't like Simon Phoenix! I am going to try and watch either Percy Jackson Sea Monsters or the dreaded Lone Ranger this weekend. For horror the Here Comes the Devil looks awesome!

Between work, daughter's homework, Christmas cards, Christmas shopping, wrapping, and doing some writing for an event I'm part of in mid-January, I've had absolutely zero time for movies. Probably won't be able to watch anything until I take a week's vacation starting the 30th. Oh, to just sit on the couch and watch a movie...ANY movie. biggrin.gif
post #8639 of 9776
I watched "Girls Against Boys" and it was better than expected, given the savage reviews. Stylish and tense, and darkly entertaining. A sexy "Thelma and Louise" with murderous intentions.
