Should look pretty good, the DVD got a remastered 10th anniversary edition last year and it looked great. The sound in TrueHD should be fantastic! This movie is a guilty pleasure of mine!

Well that's good to hear then! I have some older DVD that I've had for a very long time, but I don't recall thinking it was horrible or anything.

A few of my friends really like it as well. I did come across a friend of a friend who refuses to watch it again as it gave him nightmares!

Guilty pleasure would be Anaconda (the women around my friends and I are not fond though, haha).

Finally! Event Horizon is mine...
Yes! The Truman Show!

I don't suppose they'll release it in its proper 1.66:1 aspect ratio, will they? The last DVD was 1.78:1 so I guess not.

Cool. Will get Event Horizon, fer sure.
Alright! Event Horizon has been a guilty pleasure of mine for the last year. I find it compulsively watchable with a very cool sense of design, set dec, mood etc. I'm super happy it'll be available in HD!

DAMMIT, I just broke down and finally picked up Event Horizon on DVD. That is the ONLY reason it is now coming out on BD

Any word if the blu-ray release of event Horizon will be the so-called Unrated/Extended Director's cut? The last dvd release was supposed to be but turned out to be the standard theatrical release which kept me from buying it despite the very low price ($6.99 - $9.99) I see it nowadays in most stores.

Its been a guilty pleasure since viewing it at the cinema many years ago

Thats a very meaty news break...Event Horizon, Truman Show, Dexter, and Braveheart before the end of January? Yes, please!

Event Horizon a guilty pleasure? No way. Thats a flat out effective piece of horror IMO. Sam Neill is one creepy SOB. Hopefully his In the Mouth of Madness will be on Blu soon.

Not 100% sure about Event Horizon, but The Truman Show...At last!!
...Wait, I managed to actually spend $20 on 88 minutes, so yes, I'm pretty sure I'll get Event Horizon!

Sweet news, I'm a huge Event Horizon fan.

Paul W.S Anderson should be forced to change his name. I don't know why I even watch his movies. I want to see Death Race again for some reason though. Event Horizon falls into this same category, I've never sat down to watch the whole thing all the way through. If the PQ is right I'll pick it up when it's under $15.

And Why doesn't the thread title have Days of Thunder with large letters and !!!. Days of Thunder One of my all time favorites. "Gimme some lovin" And you know that since it's from one of the Scott brothers(they both rock) it's guaranteed to have awesome audio.

I'm so psyched for DoT it's not even funny.

Dexter too - man those leading male(drama/comedy) and best drama categories were tough. Dexter is one of the top 5 shows on TV, I held off on the dvd for that one. Very cool.

No, they don't both rock. Tony Scott is the worst kind of hack. While his brother Ridley sometimes falls off the edge of the style-vs-substance cliff, Tony wallows at the bottom at all times. Days Of Thunder is the epitome of flash-over-anything-resembling-good-movie-making "look ma, look how pretty I can make a movie by having EVERYTHING shot at a long lens, just like all my commercials!"

Tony Scott is a hack. I don't care if he did score one with Top Gun. If Einstein were alive he would provide objective proof of this with a Hackinsian formula with "Tony Scott" at the end of the equal sign.

Just...you know...my 2 cents....

They do both rock. Although If I had to pick one it would hands down be Ridley.

How can you say Top Gun is any less "style over substance" than any of his other films. I enjoyed sitting through TWBB for 2.5 hours(all 3 times). But sometimes you want to turn your brain off and see bright lights, fast cuts, filtered frames and hear loud noises. Tony Scott can do that.

And come on this thread has a movie by Paul W.S. Anderson and you say Tony Scott is the most hackish? Come one.

Unfortunately, I've already had that one for like 2 years, so I guess it doesn't always work

I knew Event Horizon was destined for a Blu-ray release.

They aired it on Cinemax HD just a few weeks ago.

There is also a brand new DVD version that came out on Sept. 9. I picked up the two-disc Collector's Edition (2006) last year. Anyone know what's new in this release?

event horizon scared the *beep* out of me when I was a kid watching that on vhs and 2 channel stereo sound, omg, idk if i can handle the blu even being an adult now lol
