Pioneer 5071 compares to what current set??

Thread Starter
these days? As far as blacks, color accuracy etc?

I am starting to get the itch for a bigger set and I am not at all unhappy with the 5071. It has been a great first Plasma and it has allowed me to spend a fortune on Audio (to me anyway)

Now that that is pretty much in place I feel my 50 inch Pioneer has fallen behind. Not due to quality but size.

I have went and looked at the 6020 in passing and it looked nice and bigger but I know there is also the 65 Panasonic and a 63 Samsung.

Just wondering where the 5071 fits in these days (not size) but picture quality to other sets. Has it been just better black levels or has the entire color accuracy enhanced in three generations? Maybe a stupid question but the 5071 still looks really good to me but it is three generations old (already)?

Thanks,

Rick

I would go with the 6020FD for sure since you had a Pioneer and keep in mind if you want the best possible picture take a look at the 151 or 141 Elite if budget permits.

And I'd suggest you carefully examine Panasonic and Samsung as well. I make no pretense that I believe the Sammies offer the best most realistic image out there. For some mysterious reasons, other's might prefer Pioneer or Panasonic as best.

the 5070/1 panel is a very good plasma. yes the newer models do have better blacks and higher contrast and 1080p if you sit close enough to see it. But of course the biggest difference will be the HUGE 44% increase in screen area size of a 60" over a 50".
