Interested in getting a cheap used 720p projector with HDMI input. Where to get a good deal? Is EBay the only place? Thanks in advance.

Here, audiogon, videogon, ebay, + any number of the other forums. Just look around.

You may also want to contact some forum sponsors and see if they have open box specials. Projector People allows you to return units with no restocking fee if they have 4 hours or less (or at least they used to), so I'd imagine the probably have quite a few open box units.

As I understand new 720P projectors can be had for less than $1000. I would think <$400-$500 for a used one is cheap.

The lamp of my 480P projector is about to die. The cost of the lamp is $200. 1080P is an overkill for me now. Since the main use of the projector is DVD and Netflix Roku box which supports HDMI output. My current 480P projector does not support HDMI. I am thinking a used 720P can be used as a stop gap for a year or two before getting into 1080P.

Also thinking about getting the Toshiba XD-E500 if it gets cheap (<$100) in the coming holiday. It will be 1080P proof and preserve the value of my DVD collections.

I'd look for a white van in the Macy's parking lot.

Is that 1080p with HDMI 1.3 and supports Deep Color? It looks like an Optoma to me.

But, I think he specified 720p not 72p.

OK, so he needs to move his first row back a few feet.

Went with the WOOT deal on Planar PD7130. Ordered Toshiba XD-E500, plus cables and adapters from Monoprice. For less than $750, it should cover me for two to three years on DVD and Netflix (Roku box).
