Recently purchased Tritton AX360 headphones, what are your opinions?

Thread Starter
I recently purchased a pair of AX360 headphones for use with my ps3, pc, Wii, and xbox 360. I have a full 5.1 surround sound system for my pc, but it's just not pratical trying to use it in an apartment since running cables looks bad since you can't hide them. That along with the fact that my computer room is completely seperate from the tv/360/ps3/wii.

After much research and looking at what I had available on my budget I picked up the ax360's since they got favorable reviews online. For those of you who have them I am looking for your general review/impressions of these headphones and an anwser to the following:

A. Since my TV had an optical out on it couldn't I just run the optical cable from the TV to the encoder and leave the ps3 and 360 hooked up via HDMI and get the same sound quality?

B. What are your recommendations for the best settings for each speaker and time delay for each system?

C. Will it be a big hassle moving the unit from one room to another?

Thanks for your feedback. I look forward to reading it!

see this thread if you have not already:http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=894251 lots of info in there about tritton and other headphones.

i have the tritton ax360 and bought an extra headphone from tritton to accomidate two rooms - one for hdtv and ps3/xbox and seperate room with hdtv and pc. since then i have moved to a new house and have no need for headphones anymore so trittons are sitting in a box.

i bought the extra headphone so i would not need to move b/w pc and console gaming rooms. i suggest the same for you. it worked great for me for months before i moved. moving the whole kit is a bit of a pain but also really only takes a couple minutes.

i liked the performance of them. nice for gaming on pc and xbox b/c surround sound and works for mic. sadly, mic not work for ps3.

happy to answer any other questions.

Not a place to discuss headphones. It's no way related to PS3 even if you use PS3 as a
source. Go to Portable A/V forum.

A. More than likely it won't work since most TV's optical output are for the output of digital audio from the coaxial input (cable or over-the-air broadcast). Also you are going to have a problem with the PS3 since it cannot output HDMI and optical audio simultaneously. You'll have to manually switch the PS3 audio from HDMI to Optical Out when using the headphones. I guess that is why they were not called Tritton APS3. Even with an HDMI AV receiver, most will not convert HDMI audio to optical output.

I disagree. I'd consider it the same as commenting about any other PS3 accessory such as wireless headsets or steering wheels.

Has anyone had any issues where the bass doesn't sound like real bass since the headphoens use the rumble feature to simulate heavy bass?

By the way to the guy that said I need to post elsewhere then why are there any threads for controller issues? The headphones will be used with my ps3 just like any other peripheral.

Because controllers are part of the system. Without it PS3 is useless. It's like
starting a thread on a HDTV or speakers in this forum.
