I just picked up a broken Gateway 42" plasma (name GTW-P42M303 / Model P420142V5), and I'm trying to figure out exactly what I might be able to do to fix it. The problems that it's having are pretty severe - there's no picture; just some random flashing clusters of green pixels with the occasional blue or red pixel showing up, and the sound appears to be shot. Coming from the back, near the connection area, is a somewhat high pitched moaning noise.
I know that's pretty vague...but has anyone had a similar problem? I'm guessing /hoping that it's just a matter of replacing some of the boards, but I have no idea which ones.
If anyone knows of a service manual that exists for this TV, that'd be great! This is my first venture in trying to fix a TV (or any major electronic device), and I'm hoping I can at least make some progress!
