Pros:“Excellent value for the price - Paid $79.95 at Frys.”“Absolutely stunning 24p play back. Networked Apps are flawless (wired). Very customizable. Unbelievable DLNA capability. Ability to skip the unskippables in a DVD. Overall professional onscreen GUI. Audio Quality is surprisingly very good. Upscaling as a customizable, menu driven item. Very Apple-esque.”

) on this here at AVSForum. To summarize, though, at least my position which I believe to be the consensus, is that since update 1.6, the upconversion of SD-DVDs is very good, provided the options are set correctly. I don't remember the exact settings right now (I'm too busy e-mailing my senators and congresspeople about the economy), but between my HD-XA2 and PS3, I'll go to the XA2 first, but if I have to use the PS3, there is very little, if any, noticeable difference. I defer to my XA2 based on my personal HQV disc tests which gave about a 5-10 point edge to the XA2 on SD material. Real world, though, is largely discernible. I am anything but a Sony fan in general, but I bought a second PS3 to use in my front projection system for a very good reason; it's a fantastic system. For the price, you get a powerful gaming maching, media streamer, Blu-ray player, SD-DVD player, and other perks. If you can overcome the primary downsides, which are difficult integrating into a rack, and bluetooth-only control (unless you buy a IT to BT conversion option, which I use), there's very little to complain about except for maybe power consumption.
