Trouble with 480P on Samsung LN46A950

Hello Everyone. I just got a new Samsung LN46A950 LCD over the weekend. I connected my Wii via Component to the set. Went into the options on the wii and changed the settings from 480i to 480p. The problem is as soon as i do that the screen blacks out. It will go in and out of this until i change it back to 480i. I was wondering if anyone has seen this issue before and if so anyway to fix it. I have standard wii component cables. Not official Nintendo component cables though. Any help would be awesome. Thanks

If you got a 480p "progressive scan" dvd player, plug that into the same port on your TV and feed it 480p. Does the TV do the same thing?

That in and out thing means the TV isn't taking the signal well. Since your TV is 1080p I would think it may be defective.
