Back on topic for a moment, I really need a Breaking Bad fix and can hardly wait for the upcoming season to finally start.

I just hope the 8/8 split on episodes is just not a marketing decision and sell 2 different sets of blurays at a regular season price..

My hopes: first 8 starting July, last 8 starting Jan/Feb..

Oh, that's SOP now. First I noticed it was with BSG, where half-season sets were priced at what had typically been a complete season set. One of the "advantages" of split seasons, I suppose.

I had read the last 8 will be next summer.

Yep. Next summer =\\: http://www.deadline.com/2012/05/amc-...-back-july-15/

We just returned from a vacation to Santa Fe, but we flew in/out of ABQ, and spent one night there. I searched in vain for Walt or any meth heads. I guess I wasn't in the "right" part of town. Nor did I recognize any architecture, except the tall buildings seen in long shots of downtown. I guess they don't film in historic Old Town...

Guess that's a good thing- ppl tend to die around Walt and Jessie....

At one point there was a local tourist company offering tours of popular filming sites, don't know if they still do. Most scenes are filmed at Albuquerque Studios, (on I-25 north), with the outdoor stuff being shot by a second unit. Jesse's grandmother's house is pretty close to Oldtown, actually.
But again, they don't actually film any scenes there unless they are outdoor scenes, and even some of those are fudged. Same for Walt's house, very little is shot there.

One interesting tidbit is that when we see characters driving in a car, most times the background scenery is the actual route they would be taking through town to go from A to B.

The carwash is one that I go to regularly. The Chicken joint that Gus ran is actually a popular local burrito chain. (Twisters).

AMC has unveiled the official poster art for the first half of Breaking Bads fifth and final season and, not surprisingly, it plays up Walt's (Bryan Cranston) ascension to full-fledged drug kingpin...No longer under the thumb of a mastermind criminal, Walt now assumes the role of one himself, as he and Jesse (Aaron Paul) look to build their own empire, reads the official Season 5 logline. Meanwhile, Skyler (Anna Gunn) struggles with the reality of her husband's new role and Hank (Dean Norris) works to wrap up his investigation of Gus' business.

Just looking through the guide and then the amc website and it appears they are going to run Breaking Bad in order starting this Sunday night(Monday morning 6/11/12-3:12am ET) straight through Season 1 thru 4 at least twice. So if you've not seen the series and would like to get caught up before the new season, you have at least a couple of chances to get caught up.

A short teaser for the new season:

July, hurry up!

I have started Dvr'ing the late night episodes on AMC and they are bleeping each episode like crazy. I wasn't watching it when it started so I don't have a point of reference, I started with the Blu-Ray season 1 on, and it was un-cut , at least I think it was. Even with the bleeping, I'm hooked, again, recording every night, but it's tough with my very small Cox Cable DVR's hard-drive. Walter White and Jesse Pinkston....Enough said....

Our cable provider (Time Warner) now has the first 3 epsiodes of season 4 on-demand. Hoping to catch up before the new season starts.

The Blu-ray sets of BB are the way to go, uncensored and unedited, pristine PQ, DTS-HD Master audio, exclusives. It's worth sitting through the 2 FBI warnings. And not to be "that guy", but I believe it's Jesse Pinkman, not Pinkston. wink.gif

Hey Bidger:
You are correct Sir, my sausage fingers mis-spelled Jesse's last name....Walter White and Jesse [Yo] Pinkman, the two most dangerous men on TV...The late night showings on AMC are being bleeped heavily
post #1490 of 2325
I don't remember the original airings being bleeped but that may be attributed to CRS. wink.gif

Sometimes you miss half the dialogue. eek.gif
post #1491 of 2325
I had to push the subtitle button on the remote when they had two cartel scenes in Mexico because they spoke so much Spanish. I think those scenes were actually subtitled in the original AMC HD broadcast. I could be wrong though.

Other than that I have no complaints about the Blu Ray discs. Awesome cinema and sound!

biggrin.gif I can't see the "Yo" and not think of the interchange between Skyler and Jesse when she confronts him in his driveway when he's trying to move the body in S1.

I only started watching from the first ep of S4, "Box Cutter", so you could be correct about the first airing being unbleeped. I know that the repeats and the streaming eps from Netflix are bleeped.

I also seem to recall subtitles being used for the dialogue between Gus and the cartel. Haven't made it that far on the S4 BD set.

+1! I'm re-watching S4 right now on the Blu-ray set, and it is visually stunning. Audio is no slouch either -- the dynamic range and gut-busting impact of some of the gun blasts is fantastic. You won't hear that on AMC.

Yes, the Spanish subtitles were there in the original broadcast. There is some kind of glitch on the Blu-rays which causes the Spanish subtitles to have to be manually activated. The easiest was I've found to correct this is, before selecting an episode, on the main menu, go to the "Subtitles" sub-menu; there, turn English (not English SDH) subtitles on, then turn them off. All Spanish-speaking scenes on the disc should now display the subtitles correctly.

I think we can do at least slightly better than "audio no slouch" -- I had gotten the BB blu-ray just after release day, as I always do, along with HELL ON WHEELS and FALLING SKIES. Tested out the latter two to see if they were worth watching on the big system with the quarter ton of amps, fifty drivers, and dual 18s, or just default to TV sound on the other system. Unfortunately neither HELL or FALLING had anything going for them in the audio department, so would not even matter to feature them on the big rig. Not so with BB. This was joy from the opening scene where you can hear the space, feel the tactility of his cutting through those plastic bands, then experience those side panel drops with appropriate "WHOMP!" You knew from the first moments this ranks with the best audio of cinema, not just some afterthought of a TV presentation. Such a joy since this is such a great series anyway -- their dramatic efforts were not wasted by failure to lock it on record with artful mastery just as it deserves. BRAVO!

I watched Seasons 1-3 on Blu-Ray and the Video and Audio is truly excellent... Lot's of outdoor shooting in the Desert.... Watching the late night showings on AMC "HD"...Bit starved and basically fuzzy wide-screen...Horrible video and not much better audio, that is bleeped like crazy... I'm watching every day anyway, the show is just so dynamic. "Taco Cabezza", where the he** did they come up with that. Making drug deals in a junk-yard... Instead of the Mall, come on!! Last issue: I'm on Netflix and signed up for season 4 on Blu-Ray months ago.... It just became available and I can't get it, DVD, only... I called and E-mailed, first they said un-available in BR, except it shows on their web-site available...Then they blamed Sony....Anyone else have any luck getting it on BR from Net-dump???
I started in the middle of season 4, so I haven't seen the first couple of episodes, need season 4 on Blu-Ray...... Vince Gilligan is the man, what a show....

The audio of Breaking Bad is exceptional. I watched the first season via Amazon as I did not have AMC-HD at the time and even with Amazon's downloadable versions I could tell the audio was something special, exceptional dynamic range even with that lower bitrate delivery system.

In one of last nite's episodes, I'm pretty sure I heard a "MF" slip thru. eek.gif

Don't recall any bleeps but didn't hear any other "bad" words.
I only recall "I F***d Ted" back in the day.. and maybe another one out there..
I've been seeing the *Ding* guy on a lot of other shows and BB really didn't do him justice since he always comes off evil even if he's "trying" to do a good character. lol
