If anyone is going to have a problem with the lense shift parameters don't forget to gain clearance by tilting the projector(then tilt the screen the same angle so they are perpendicular).

For example a projector 11" from the screen, every degree tilted will
gain 2 1/4" in lense height clearance.
What about straight on...can it be "in the screen range"?
Angling isn't an option in my set-up. Ican mout it at the top edge or above, but it would be much easier to mount say 5'/6' up insttead of say 7'/7.5' up.

Did anyone happen to see if the 7130 has the darkchip 2 or 3?

I got my 7130 yesterday and its mounted close to the center of the screen. With the len shift I could center it

Did you mess around with the vertical lens shift? If so, how far upward and downward were you able to shift the screen?

Awesome......thanks!

Only problem is I don't get mine until friday?! And I have invited several people over for a big movie night on thursday. Since people got theirs as early as monday night I thought I'd get mine by thursday at the latest.
AGHHh... Mine is now showing Friday as well. Originally was Thurs...

This is my first projector... so I am a wee bit excited for it. Just checked my cables from monoprice and they won't be their until Monday... UGH

My projector just arrived. woo--hoo!
damn this thing is big looks like 2x the size of my in72. I don't know if my ceiling mount will hold it.
I will be hooking it up to test shortly.

Well, I admit i'm a little dissapointed with the lack of offset. I have a vaulted cieling so mounting it means having a long drop from the cieling. I just assumed that lens shift would include significant offset.

So here is what I'm thinking: Some sort of actuator to raise and lower the projector. If i can use the 12v trigger on this as well as the electric screen that'd be pretty neat. I'v got some attic space above that I may have to use. Interesting.

Sure it'd be less work if I just got a larger offset pj, but not nearly as much fun.

yea the up down offset is limited.
picture quality looks good so far.

How does it compare to the IN72? I am upgrading from the IN72 as well.

well colors are poping more.. though my bulb was old..
much higher resolution.. tighter pixels as expected..
and big n heavy.
it is quieter.
the biggest challenge will be placement.

Looking at this for a warranty for the bulb.... does anyone have any experience with these warranties? I have bought extended warranties on equipment before only to find out that it is almost impossible to get the item repaired/replaced once it needs it due to loop holes.

This warranty seems way too good to be true. 125 bucks and they replace 1000 dollars worth of bulbs?

OK this thing is a beast.
It weighs 17 pounds vs the 9 of the IN72.
My question is.. any advice on what i should use to mount this thing?
I'm afraid my previous mount might rip out of the ceiling.

There is also this one for $70, I don't have any experience with either company though.

Your mount should be anchored into a ceiling joist. If that is not practical, you will need to create a plate that can mount to ceiling joists and mount your ceiling mount to the plate.

I bought a generic universal mount from ebay, which states it holds up to 33 pounds. As long as you have the mount anchored into a stud/joist, then you should be fine. If your mount is hanging on to drywall on the ceiling, then you're probably in trouble.

Are you running HD signals, Blu-ray, HD DVD? How much better do they look?

Most hardware stores should have a cheap stud finder.

I only was able to get one side of my mount into the joist (2 screws), hopefully that's enough to support the 17 pounds.

Depends on the screws in those two positions and the anchor you used for the third screw.

Another thing to consider with the mount (at least in my case) is that I WILL bump it at some point so the mount must be secure.

I could shelf mount it, but with the lack of offset I don't think it will work at 7feet 6 inches up.

The ceiling plan will work, just use good quality wood screws that will support the weight and use a good drywall anchor for the third screw. You should be good.

Why not mount off the rear wall?
I just got my projector and fired it up to play with it. The first thing I noticed is that right out of the gate it has some pretty bad horizontal keystoning. Is anyone else having that problem? I really hate the idea of having to mess with keystoning when my projector is facing the wall straight.

Of course, this is my first projector so I have no idea if this is common or if I have a broken projector.

My living room does double duty as my home theater. Since it is 21' by 17' with vaulted cielings, I have always just used the coffee table with my short throw DT-300 and put it away when not in use.

Since the throw on the planar is a little longer, I had hoped to cieling mount it. There are a couple interesting threads on DIY projector lifts i might try.

Until then it looks like i'll still be using the coffee table.
