Thanks for the response, 007

I was hoping to use both the VP1020a and the HVR1600.
Have both of them on hand.
Use the HVR1600 for Dish Network and OTA, and use the VP1020a for FTA satellites.

Any reason I cannot use both at the same time?

I'm not totally up on all the latest hardware, but I will say I recently bought a Visiontek Radeon HD4850 video card for $150 and I really like it. The card allows me to watch anything I've thrown at it so far with no stuttering issues. And, it doubles as a high-def sound card. Not bad for $150. You might also want to check out slickdeals dot net you can find really good deals for this type of stuff on there. Be sure to check out the "hot deals" under "forums." Good luck with the build.
