Onkyo TX-SR806 Wii - 5 hdmi+1 component video Setup?...

I have 5 HDMI sources in...PS3, xbox, dvr, apple tv and blu-ray player. All work good. I want to hook up my Wii...I have a component adapter.

I am a little confused on where to hook it in. And how to switch to it.

First of all...since I am using 5 hdmi is that all I can run in? I assume I could use one of the inputs and toggle between HDMI and component. I can switch the audio but its not clear from the manual how to swap the video. Ideally would like to switch from the remote..or the front panel..once its setup.

What are the steps?

What input should it go into, video and audio? What settings do I use in the configuration screen?

The receiver is awesome...and hdmi switching works great..but the manual gets dense with the above so was looking for some clear steps. Thanks!

interesting, let me know if you figure it out, my audio of the wii still isn't mapped right.

everything else works fine. 2 HMDI - PS3/XA1 2 component, 360/WII

360 is mapped to optical =Component1
Wii is in limbo land. = Component2

I have 5 hdmi...using 5 hdmi audio. All work. But where to wedge in a component device (wii) not sure. And where to map it?

you can put the it on the component1 and RCA inputs. go into setup and it output 480p to your HDMI out.

Can you go though the steps? I have it hooked to the component..but to WHICH audio input do I hook it? And what are the steps in setup? Thanks!

Does the Wii have a digital (optical or coax) output? If so, use that. Otherwise, just pick an available RCA input set, then go into the Inputs setup and configure whatever name is still available to it. The names for the video (component) and audio (digital or RCA) just have to match. For example, when you select DVD from the remote, the receiver activates the video input that is internally labeled DVD and the audio input labeled DVD. When you select AUX, it activates the inputs defined as AUX.
The problem is when you run out of source names.

So I guess my question is..can I have 5 HDMI devices and 1 component device all hooked up and switch between them?

If I hook the Wii up to DVD it can't be switched to..just the audio (going from digital to analog audio) however the HDMI DVD works fine.

Or maybe my question is...can one input (of the 5) have an HDMI device PLUS a component device assigned to it..and switch between them. It seems like it can but for some reason is not working.

I have the following hooked up to my Onkyo 806:

HDMI:
1) AppleTV
2) TIVO series 3
3) PS3

Then I have the following two via components input:

1) Xbox 360 (component and optical input)
2) wii

Everything works and switches great. If you look at the two component inputs one is labeled cbl/sat the other is labeled dvd. You have to use those two inputs to use component ins and whatever audio you want. For example my wii is in the cabl/sat component in, and the audio input (analog, which wii only comes with) is in the cabl/sat audio input (red/white)..

It should work perfectly fine thereafter.

ok, checked at a friends house, put the Wii on component 1 (game/sat) and audio into game/sat) and on the onkyo menu, for component 1 leave it blank, this will make sure it routed correctly. hope that helps!
