AV123 X-LS Encore Discontinued. Now what?

I've been keeping my eye on the AV123 X-LS Encore speakers for my system because they've gotten good reviews but I went on the site the other day and they're gone. I did some research and learned that they've been discontinued.

Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative at a similar price? (these were going for ~$300-$320 a pair).

Asend Acoustic CBM-170 SE. www.ascendacoustics.com/
One of the best in this price range, $348 pair. $20 flat rate ground shipping.

Actually, it hasn't been discontinued. It has been pulled from the website temporarily. With the dollar dropping so much, it got too expensive to build the way we want. Mark posted this last night:

x-ls --- well, Santi is on his birthday holiday so I guess I will only say this... We have TONS of parts - we want to build this puppy badly... and we shall, only it won't look EXACTLY like the current x-ls... It will have more square-edged corners... We did this so that we could build the speaker at prices closer to the original price... We have already made molds for x-ls swg too... I'm not throwing those away dude...

This is pulled from THIS post.

You will still be good to get a set of LS'. I have a feeling, and this isn't official at all, that the CS will get changed to a more "square" style also. Just a thought, though.

Please let me know if I can help with anything.

I'm going to post some pretty sensitive stuff now - so I hope this won't be misunderstood... BTW... we have over 250 units due in - and parts for 3000 more in the warehouse... (just an FYI)...

The x-ls was always a product that made a "reasonable" CM (Contribution Margin)... while not the margin we want to make - it was always a product that "satisfied" my urge for a killer entry level speaker that looked and "spoke" for av123... Mission Accomplished...

Unfortuantely, things have taken a difficult turn in Cali - Santi I'm going to apologize to you now for sharing some of our very private stuff - but this thread warrants that...

The Dollar simply KILLED us... The 45% variance meant that what we paid $1 dollar for last year - all of a suddent became $1.60... a HUGE increase given the margins we work on...

ALL of that said... We had planned all along to move out of x-ls (encore) when SWG was ready...

... I would have had to charge you folks $499 for x-ls to make the same margin after the new prices came down - how could I do that... (yep - not possible)...

Best...

mls

Also, looks like we will be getting a newer version of the x-ls... the x-ls swg

That's great but what about the price? I'm betting they'll be more.

The same thing happened to me. I was seriously thinking of getting a pair of the x-ls bookshelves, went to the website today -- no speakers! Anyone know when this new version is supposed to be available?

Why are these going for so cheap? I could buy two pairs and a center for just a couple hundred more than a single pair of the X-LS's....

How do they compare?

I have read nothing but good reviews from forum members on the Acculine series.

I also second the recommendation for the Ascend Acoustic CBM-170 SE speakers.
