Finally ,I have found enough time to finish the Acoupower cabinets and will install the first one tomorrow(with pics of course).

I am in the process of re finishing all my cabinets, the horrors in the pics were just to test out the drivera nd how everything works. So many pics to follow in the comming weeks.

At it stands I added a few Parasound power amps JC1's and A21's to my "little" system and am very happy to report these Parasound amps hold their own with Bryston and SimAudio MOON series amps.

Ok here...

The cabinet has a net internal volume of 9 cu ft. 1.5" thick walls, with a 3" thick baffle and is cross braced in each ~8 inches, matrix bracing. No need to mention it is as dead as a brick. I used almost five sheets of 3/4" birch, this includes one sheet of Baltic birch for the baffle. With the Acoupower mounted the subs weighs ~210lbs.

The power is a QSC PL380 power amp,~1500W into 8 Ohms per channel, power via a 30AMP 120V dedicated line.

So far all is set up and now testing will begin...

Nice Build and a really kick as* enclosure. I have something like that in mind using ACP 18" but didn't hear from anyone from ACP regarding the purchase of 2 or 4 drivers. Did you have any luck contacting ACP?

The pics came out ugly as hell. The cabinet looks great and I sanded the whole cabinet with fine sanding paper(using an orbital sander) for almost five hours. Every surface is smooth, all panels a perfect fit.

The second cabinet is in the gluing process.

No chance in contacting Acoupower(Carlos) I will try again next week.

So far I am VERY IPMPRESSED with the Acoupower. A real beast, these subs will be my benchmark with my LMS-Ultra subs. Sound quality is simply first rate, with proper PEQ compensation applied it does not get much better than this. Time to fire the whole setup for a fireworks test drive and play a few very bass heavy movies.

Nice..eye candy right there....

If you would take someone off the street and make him sit through a listening session..I am sure they would brown their shorts..

Ear,

I'm looking to build a high performing small/sealed sub and if I can organize a group buy, I may be able to take the plunge with Acoupower. Could you please share some more info on the design you made? I'm curious about what its tuned to and how loud do you think it could go? SQ is most important, overall how do you think it rates with other 18'' subs on the market?

Sorry for all the questions, but you always seem to be very knowledgeable and you have all the toys .

Thanks,
Nate

Still under construction. Whole area when completed.

Acoupower drivers are built like no other, all parts are truly custom and the drivers are one of a kind. 6" voice coils are used,Neo magnet inside the coil, major cooling is also part of the driver.
Construction quality is first rate. A driver one has to see to apreciate. As for the cabinets the 15's will work well in smallish 3 cu ft cabinets the 18's requite much larger ~9cu ft and up. Optimal would be around 18 cu ct,but that was just too huge.

Sealed is the way,as ported you need cabinets on the large side. The Fs is high on these drivers, very stiff suspension and low moving mass = high Fs.BL is inline with what you should have on a serious LF driver.

I have to say if SQ is a top priority the Acoupower and AudioPulse LMS-Ultra are two champs you cannot go wrong with.

Ear,

Have you completed the ACP project and listened to it yet? I am anxious to find out the results if you do. Also, any luck trying to contact ACP for your next purchase. From what I heard in the other thread, there is a guy who is still waiting two of the four subs he ordered. I didn't get any reply from ACP so far.

TIA!
James

The Ear,

I'm curious what type of extra power you have had to install into your home to run all of your amplifiers.
