I have a Sony TV KDL-46XBR and a Sony BD player 350, and I want to upgrade my Yamaha receiver.
There are advantages on having all the units Sony. I would imagine that the integration will be better and the remote has a theater function that you press and all 3 will go on, like my Harmony remote.
But if the Denon's Audissey sound and overall surround sound is more engulfing and harmonious , i would buy the Denon but if they are equally the same minus some little features, I would pick the Sony. I don't know off hand if the Sony has a feature that is better or rivals the Denon's or that Denon doesn't have. I am looking at the $600 range.
I am not familiar with Sony's ES and as far as I can see, the features are similar.
For those that chose Denon, if they could give the reasons and vice versa for the Sony buyers. I know brand loyalty plays here but i also know many have listen to them and have personally experience both receivers.

BUT with the DG920 I now go component video direct into the receiver and out HDMI to the tv and I get 1080p upscaling looks great!!! Sound quality is not to shabby and the auto calibration with the mike is a breeze. After calibration you can use the GUI go in and tweek the settings to your liking. I love my Sony and FYI the upscaler is a FAROUDJA chip so you can't go wrong.
