I wonder how much those weigh?

Psa xv15. Crappy cell pic

About 400lbs each.

I had to do it that way because I didn't have the space to put them in separate boxes.
I now have the space, and that allows for proper placement and better frequency response.

I have 17 subwoofers now (and counting); so placement is almost moot (because they are already everywhere). biggrin.gif

For the bass above 40hz, I got these. (100db per watt FYI... powered by two EP4000's)

17? Geez man. I don't know how you do that. I'm way to anal retentive to amass an array of different equipment in the first place much less want to take the time to ensure everything will play nicely together. I understand each has their own strengths and weaknesses, but man... I just couldn't do it without some kind of end result in mind...

How about a pic of all your beauties stacked together...

A pick of my new PSA XV-15
At the time I was powering it in series-parallel (i.e. 10-ohm) with an iTech-8000 in bridge mode, which is basically dual 5-ohm. About ~8000watts or 800watts per cone.
Obviously underpowered... but I couldn't afford 5 iTech-8000's redface.gif

I sold all the velodynes, they weren't good enough for me, I had to make my own subs to get something good enough.
I still have the 15's from 2008, but I'm now thinking of selling them and upgrading to another 3 18's. I was thinking of trying some RE XXX-18's wink.gif

This is as close to a "stack" as it gets.

The best subwoofer I have is the TC LMS Ultra. It has so much magnetic force strength that practically no other subwoofer can complete against it (at least for infrasonic <40hz reproduction); except for maybe an equivalent number of XXX-18's in an IB.
Above 40hz however... pro-woofers are of course going to out SPL it because of the 100db/watt efficiency. That's just the physics of it... what can ya do.

anytime I've tried to mix even two different subs I've typically thought a single design sounded better by itself, maybe not louder - but better.

Subs I've tried to mix
DIY 15" ottoman with four drivers, Jamos D7 Sub pair, SVS PB13 Ultra pair, Pro Audio Yamaha CW-218V, JTR Captivator pair, Infinity HPS-1000 pair. I can't think of a single time when I felt the magic happened in mixing designs. But to each his own! If you are happy with the subs and have them calibrated in then I applaud your effort. I'd image its plenty loud with 17 subs ---- biggrin.gif Perhaps, it's untrue, but I'd expect sound quality to be a bit of a mess with that mix mash of drivers. I tried extensively with the Yamaha CW218V and the SVS PB13 Ultra to combine two subs I like very much liked apart for different reasons. The Yamaha sounded better for music and the SVS better for movie/deep bass. When played together I thought they basically cancelled each other's strengths out and I ended up getting a compromise of both --- but losing the clear strength of either. The JTR cap pair sounded better than either of them at either task and got louder to boot - so I found my huckleberry.

Do you have several dsp and HPF filters in place for each sub driver or just running them all native?

Curious, you ever think of selling off the other subs and picking up a bunch of LMS's?? I bet 17 of those would kill! Possibly literally. tongue.gif

At one point I had an Epik Empire and Phoenix, a PB13, and 3 MFW's. After some EQ work, I actually got it to sound pretty good.

With as much money as Bass has spent on gear over the years, it seems like this would have been the cheaper route anyway...

It usually is bro. I know that was the case with my subwoofer journey. Sometimes it's just cheaper to go straight to the top.

Speaking of your journey, what's the path you've taken man? I know you had the Conquests before the LMS-U's, but I forget what you had before that.

I think it would benefit everyone if you documented that journey!

Actually, I would invite all to tell their Subwoofer Ownership story to help those seeking sub satisfaction to avoid the same purchasing mistakes...

Shameless thread plug, but having access to a consolidated list would have been a great resource to have back when I started my journey.

Power sound audio vx15. By far the best sub I've owned out of my 4 previous svs subs

Me too! I've gone thru 24 subwoofers in the past 6 years. Now I have the best with 4 Submersives. The Conquest was no slouch either.

Ya, I'm sure they would. It's amazing what you can get for another $3,816...

Of course, with that kind of money you could almost own TWO MORE Submersive HPs.

But you wouldn't get the 18" drivers. wink.gif
