One question I have is what kind of power do you have running to your HT to make all that work? One thing stopping me from upgrading my PB13s to some massive DIY type project is the fact that I only have one 20amp circuit for my HT and am guessing getting a few more dedicated circuits down there at this point would be difficult. I am assuming to run a DIY type setup like you and some other AVSers I would need some additional juice.

Toe, I recently had a fellow AVSer come by and help me with my electrical situation. He showed me how to fish cable and helped me update my breaker box accordingly. I was seriously SHOCKED at how easy it was. He probably saved me about $800 or so.

Now have three dedicated 20a lines, just in case I get the urge to add another clone in the future...

I love them! I'm coming from some 5 year old Yamaha HTIB speakers and it is a HUGE upgrade. Very clear and dynamic. I don't think I'll ever buy new speakers unless I win the lotto. In the far future, I might get a couple 18's to go with my subs. You can never have too much bass!

Here is my DIY approach. Dayton Ultimax 10's in ~1 cubic foot sealed powered with an EP4000 @ 4 ohms per channel. I have added a Behringer FBQ1000 since the pic was taken, these are flat to about 18 Hz. The towers, center and surrounds (not pictured) are all DIY as well. This is probably the 7th DIY theater I've built for myself in 10 years and I have no plans on changing this one.

Soon to come will be an LLT with an Aura MR18 tuned to 11 Hz powered with an EP2000 bridged to handle 20 Hz and down. Not building that until I'm out of this apartment though!! eek.gif

Ignore the pile of LIFE magazines and semi-mess on the TV stand.

These subs weight about 100 lbs each and have what I call "peace of mind" (bracing) and about 25 lbs of sand in a chamber in the rear to help keep them on the ground.

very nice!

A few too many sharp edges but nice.
Pete, sucks you skipped out on bracing man. I always say, "If your box can't support the weight of your house, what's the point."

You seem to build a lot, so consider doubling up (at least) for the next build. Especially for a box that size to adequately deal with that nasty box resonance!

It seems a bit optimistic -- to me at least -- for a pair of 10's to reach 18Hz with any usable output, but I will say this much; those cabinets are beautiful! I imagine almost everyone would think that entire system was store bought. Excellent job.

Jim,

They can do it but they are limited with output level. They will do ~90 dB at my LP at those frequencies but right now that doesn't bother me because of my living arrangements since I can't crank it up to 11 anyway. That LLT will take over when I get a house.

Nice Adam. I didn't realize just how space limited you were!

Is that a DIY TV stand/component rack?

FYI. The shadow in your TV looks like Darth Vader..

Still one of my favorite pics to look at! Very cool all around, but I'm just now noticing your heights man. Do they have the same waveguide as your TD15's? This pic makes them look larger.

Nice builds, are those clearwave kits or complete DIY? It's so nice with the DIY work to see well matched subwoofers to the mains. But hurry up with your Aura build, those guys you have now just seem so tiny... smile.gif

Since we're sharing subwoofer love, here's my main sub. 18" Xcon DIY LLT build. Rocking it for over a year now, no motivation to replace it with anything bigger.

Well, other than yours. smile.gif

They are running a SEOS12 as well. The smaller drivers below them make them look bigger. I'll leave the jokes to you on that one. tongue.gif
