Thanks. So the best way to listen would be via standard SPDIF rather than the multichannel analog?

Hey guys... New to the forum...I have a Mac Book Pro and a Sony BDP-S301...Bad combo I guess if I want updates... I can't get the new James Bond For Your Eyes Only to BD to run either... Any help?

You'll need to update your firmware. This will correct the issue.

Thanks very much for the firmware Donnie. I burned it onto a DVD -RW and put it into my Sony Blu-Ray - nothing happened - it just says Data Disk. Am I doing something wrong?

Burn it as an image to cd.

They don't expect you to know how to burn an image file (assuming that's what you mean). They offer CD-ROM disks for free for the FW update - register and they'll mail them out to you.

The usage of the FW downloads implies you should know what to do, if not then register for the mailed disk.

ISO files that create the disk image properly are the best way to assure the firmware gets loaded properly.

Mac user here as well. hard to believe Sony doesn't have the inclination to put a firmware update procedure for a mac. Have a BDP S300 (Blu Ray) and the exe is only available for windows. I see the verbiage "PM sent" to mac users having the same problem.

What is a PM and where can I get one?

I don't have a PC . If anyone can just tell me how to update a Sony BDP S300 with a mac as my only computer source it would be very much appreciated. If I need to contact Sony directly and beg for a solution I can do that as well.

I do know one thing. If Sony is so lame that they can't come up with a remedy for 15% of computer users, why would I ever entertain purchasing another Sony product. I wouldn't and it starts now.

He has gone well beyond the norm to help folks get their Sony BD players updated properly. He deserves the eternal recognition as St. Eldridge for these selfless efforts! Way to go Donnie!
