Can you force 24Hz on any of the players?

I know in the past you couldn't force 1080p/24 with any of the players. Has this changed via the (newer) firmware releases? If so, what players.

Thanks.

As far as I know, for the hd-a20 no. That is the only request that I would have for this player for the next firmware.

I would love to get a definative answer on this as well. On my A30 I can set it for "up to 1080p/24" but it has never output 24. And I know my display is 24 capable, works great with my blu player.

I suggest we all write toshiba requesting such a feature on the next firmware.

I was under the impression that this FW 1.3 allows for 1080p/24fs display and all of the subsequent FW screwed it up. Was that only for A35 model or was it across the board, including A30?

If A30 wasn't included, then i am all up for writing to Toshiba...

I don't think any toshiba hd-dvd player has the 1080p/24 as forced. While the display may indeed be able to display 1080p/24, the player may choose not to display it. I think in my case it is the hdmi/dvi convertor that screws this up. That is why we need to enable a forced resolution for this player. I suggest we write to toshiba and let them know, but we need to find out who to write to. I don't think customer service knows as much as a tech service. If you find the right contact info, please post it, we can write multiple emails addressing this issue.

That was done when HD DVD was viable. So I wouldn't get my hopes up...

I have my A30 set up to output 1080p/24f and my Samsung HL56A650 HDTV does display 1080p/24 when I hit the Info button. But it isn't perfect as sometimes my Sammy will display 1080p/60 but I can go into the A30 setup and come out to fix it. Initially I changed the setting from /24 to something else then back but now it seems just entering setup and leaving does the trick. Or I can often just reboot the disc to solve it.

Like natchie, I think v1.3 worked better for this so I have not upgraded the firmware. I'm watching the results of the recent v4.0 but am in no hurry to try it.

I had not thought of trying another HDMI cable but will do that since I have two more cables on order. Makes sense, sure worth a try. Thanks for the tip, silvereyes!

When playing a HD-DVD I got my Toshiba HD-EP35 set to 1080p 24hz and my reciver I can look at signal input and it tells me its 1080p 24hz.

Unless my reciver is miss reporting (which I can't see it as since it is reporting everything correctly). I am assuming its correctly outputting 24Hz.

I had 24Hz output since I brought the machine and I upgraded with every firmware release and not had a problem.

I think fw 2.8 for the HD-XA2 was where they added in the ability to force 24p output. The current fw (4.0) definately allows it, so did 3.0 and a few of the later 2.x revisions.
